PittWatch Giveaway: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (Blu-Ray)

It’s a long weekend here in Canada, with Monday being Victoria Day. I thought that a great way to celebrate would be to kick it off with a giveaway for PittWatch readers!

Reader Ana is an incredibly generous soul – she accidentally ordered two copies of the Blu-Ray version of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Instead of sending one copy back to Amazon or giving it to someone she knows, she contacted me and offered it up as a giveaway prize here at PittWatch.

Is it not true that PittWatch readers are the best? Yes, yes it is true!

I will run the contest from today – May 15th – until noon Eastern time on May 22nd. After that I’ll randomly pick one winner from the comments to win the copy. According to Ana there is no regional specifications on the box, so it should theoretically work anywhere, and she is willing to ship it worldwide to whomever wins it.

To enter, simply leave me a comment. For fun, you could let me know what your favorite Brad Pitt movie is, but as long as you comment in some way and enter a valid email address, it’s fine!

Please only enter once – yes, I can check if you entered multiple times, and every giveaway so far has resulted in at least a few people being disqualified for multiple entries – and please, PLEASE don’t leave your mailing address in the comment as it will be visible to anyone. If your comment ends up in the moderation queue, don’t re-enter, I’ll get it in as soon as I can (though I may be offline a fair bit this weekend).

Good luck!

(For those of you who don’t have Blu-Ray, fear not, I’m working on arranging a giveaway for the rest of you too, so stay tuned!)

Thanks Ana! That’s so generous and kind of you.
My favorite is MAMS based on the number of times I’ve seen it. But, I also love A River Runs Through It, Legends of the Fall, Thelma & Louise, Oceans 11, BAR, and of course TCCOBB. Believe it or not I haven’t seen TAOJJ, Snatch, 12 Monkeys, or Fight Club yet.

Hey!!! I’m really excited about this giveaway! :)
If I had to pick my favorite Brad Pitt movie…hmmm…that’s hard. I think I’d have to say Mr. and Mrs. Smith because I love watching him and Angie together lol. But I also loved Benjamin Button because it was such a poignant story and I’ve always loved the Oceans movies because those are always so much fun to watch. :)

oh gosh, there are so many, right. what a tough one. Although i love MMS, because i just love how funny they both were…. i must say, Legends of the Fall was the movie that made me swoon, what wiht the long hair and scruffy, dirty, bad boy look…swoon… then there’s fight club — yummy yummy. haha he can be so hot scruffy, and hot in a suit. I want him to work with Will Smith though, like Men in Black cause i think they will be both so hilarious!!!!

I unearth some information about a sports arena at Drury University which the Pitt family have donated to.

Edsel Matthews said he was a little relieved after the ceremonial groundbreaking for the O’Reilly Family Event Center on Friday.

The vice president of athletics affairs at Drury University has spent the past 18 months raising enough funds to move forward with the construction.

“It’s exhilaration and relief at the same time,” Matthews said. “We’re not through. We’ve got a lot more to do, but we’re thrilled to move to this point.”

The $13.5 million, 3,100-seat arena will be the home of the Drury men’s and women’s basketball teams starting in the 2010-11 season. Bulldozers already had begun clearing the land a few weeks before Friday’s ceremonies.

Although Matthews said he still needs to raise about $500,000 to fund fixtures and furnishings, the project got another large donation late last month.

The Pitt family of Springfield, led by Brad, Doug and Julie, donated $600,000 in exchange for the court being named the William A. Pitt Court in honor of their father. The name of the court will be emblazoned on the outside of the building.

The donation will go toward upgrading the building’s environmental friendliness.

Now, the O’Reilly Family Event Center will be built to meet the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Environmental Energy and Design (LEED) gold standards. Gold certification is the second-highest standard a building can meet.

“Brad’s hobby is architecture, and his push in the ‘Make It Right’ campaign has been working at the highest levels of LEED certifications they can,” Doug Pitt said. “So to be involved in any type of building project, that’s going to be at the forefront of any conversation right away.

“It was something that was important to him, and it was something that was important to the O’Reilly family and something that was important to Drury.”

The “Make It Right” project is a campaign run by Brad Pitt to rebuild the Lower Ninth Ward in New Orleans with affordable, environmentally friendly houses.

The arena will be among the first in the nation to meet the gold standard. Consol Energy Arena in Pittsburgh, future home of the NHL’s Penguins and scheduled to open in 2010, is also on pace for gold certification.

“Doing a gold event center is a major statement,” Drury president Todd Parnell said. “With Drury having partners that we have, the O’Reilly family, the Pitt family, CoxHealth and the Mabee Foundation, it speaks to the quality of the project. It’s a great day.”

The ceremony had barely wrapped up before the bulldozers started working again.

I’m really looking forward to seeing Brad in Cannes. Don’t know whether Angelina can make it – given her filming schedule. I know they say they plan ahead but if the filming of salt is running a bit behind schedule, she might just need to stay behind. After all, every day of delay costs a lot of money.
