Possible screenplay re-write for Angelina Jolie

According to Variety, the movie Edwin A. Salt may be re-written specifically for Angelina Jolie. The movie was originally going to be a Tom Cruise film, but things have changed. Once Angelina had made note that she liked the project, thoughts started whirling as to how it could be changed to fit a female lead instead.

The role would be that of a CIA officer accused of being a Russian spy who then needs to prove her innocence while still avoiding being captured. Considering her ability to play an assassin – twice – as well as a tomb raider, I have no doubt that Angie could pull off portraying someone in the CIA on the run.

The title of the movie will be changed if the re-write does happen, assuming she takes the role. There’s no word yet as to when shooting would start, but obviously it won’t be too soon since Angelina gave birth so recently and Brad is going to start filming in the Fall for his upcoming film with Quentin Tarantino.

There was also a brief mention of the ongoing hope that someday she will get to star in the film adaptation of Atlas Shrugged.

The full story is here.

As a woman, I have to say that I love the thought of a male role being recast for an actress. What do you think of this new development?

It just goes to show you that Angie is better than Tom to the point that scripts are written for her and she’s hired based on talent and that auditions aren’t needed, (As mention on a pervious thread).

Angie is kick-butt in action movie so this is sure to be a box office sensation if it does happen.

wow! screenplay would be re-written just for her? i have to say angie is one of the most wanted and powerful actress today. now that i knew that it was meant to be for a guy role i’d probably find it odd for her to portray but i agree, i know angie can pull this kind of role. i also would ove her to be in Atlas Shrugged, i’ve read that book last year and it’s really nice.

Also, I have a reader in Iran who has contacted me to find out if anyone is willing to send out an extra copy of People and Hello. If you’d like to volunteer to help her out and figure out the costs/repayment, please contact me by email (up there in the side bar) and I’ll put you both in touch!
