CBS has released the promo for this week’s episode called, “Dear Dad…” In this one, we get to see a lot of the past, as Olivia Sandoval is reprising her role as Devalos’ dead daughter, Arianna. First, watch the video and then join me after the jump for some wild speculation!
We still don’t know exactly why Devalos’ daughter killed herself, but judging from this promo, doesn’t is seem as though she may have been a rape victim? It looks like Devalos may have done some things that, shall we say, “bent the law,” a little bit in order to get this guy in jail. Devalos is an upstanding kind of guy, so why would he do that if it weren’t for a very personal reason. The question though, is this man actually guilty, or did Devalos go too far?
Also, feel free to post any of your speculation in the comments!

I thought the same thing as you Kona when I watched the promo. Looks like this guy might have drugged and date raped Arrianna and for some reason she kills herself over it, then Devolis goes after the guy. Maybe he takes it too personally and goes too far with it. Hard to specualte more than that from the promo. Reminds me a bit of “Diamond in the Rough” when Scanlon frames the guy for murdering a druggie, because he knew he raped and killed a little girl. Scanlon screwed up and let the guy go during a traffic stop and even saw the little girl in the car so it was personal for him.

Wouldn’t mind seeing this promo but unfortunately it is blocked from viewing in my area of Canada. Hopefully I’ll see it before Friday on the CBS affiliate station here.

Kona, I also got that impression too. I’m going to check out the press release post because that actor playing the guy with a grudge looks familiar.
What episode was his daughter in previously? I remember Allison led them to a pretty place with his daughter’s favourite kind of flowers but I can’t remember the episode in question.

Thank you Kona, why didn’t I think of IMDB! Directed by Arliss Howard, how could I forget that one! I would love to see Captain Push again! I miss Captain Push. In my world, he at least visited Allison whilst she was in her coma.

Thanks Linda.
In the promo it says, “what he did to the victim is coming back to haunt him”. Assuming that the rapist is the victim (confusing won’t you say?), I’m going to speculate that Devalos comes home to find his daughter has been drugged and raped. He stages and lures the rapist into attempting another date rape (which never occurred, hence why he’s the victim. Devalos also mentions that he was “accussed” of “drugging”, not raping, a young woman at a party.) and records and uses it to convict him of the staged crime. The daughter knows the truth and in her guilt and shame kills herself.

Just saw the “Dear Dad” episode and really enjoyed it. Besides the story itself, I thoroughly enjoyed the song that was reprised several times thoughout the show. Does anyone know the name of the song and who performed it?

Hi, just saw the episode; does anyone know the song used on tonight’s episode?
It’s a song sang by an artist or band, but no idea who it might be….
Thanks.
