Friday was New Year’s Day, and in the US, that means college football bowl games. What that means is that a poor little Medium repeat didn’t really have much of a chance at winning any significant ratings war. However, While the Bowl-less CBS came in third for the night, Medium performed well as compared to Ghost Whisperer and Numb3rs.
CBS reran “Baby Fever,” which is one of my favorite episodes of the season so far. It scored a respectable 4.68 million viewers and 1.0 in the 18-49 age group. It tied with Ghost Whisperer in the key demo, and barely edged it out in total viewers (4.51). It beat Numb3rs, which got a 0.9 in the demo, but it had slightly more total viewers, with 4.91.
Medium was up against a new episode of Scrubs at 9:00, and a repeat of Better Off Ted at 9:30. Scrubs has a lot of young viewers, since despite the fact it only garnered 3.53 million viewers, it scored 1.2 in the 18-49 demo. Better Off Ted also has a pretty good young viewer to total viewer ratio. It only had 2.74 million total viewers, but still managed to get a 0.9 in the demo, which wasn’t quite enough to beat Medium.
Despite the fact that the overall numbers are all low, Medium either tied or beat the other series on CBS, and beat a fellow repeat on ABC. The only thing (other than the Bowl Games, which were obviously going to blow everything else out of the water) that beat Medium in the key demo, was a new episode of Scrubs. Even then, Medium still beat it in total viewers, although that’s not as important as the 18-49 demo. What’s important is that next week marks the return of new episodes, so that’s when this is really going to start counting again!

Well, I was finally able to catch up on some eps I had taped and caught the Medium with Ariel and her possibly murderous boyfriend. Good episode! Even though the numbers weren’t anything to brag about, at least Medium is doing respectable numbers in the repeats. Did you catch the one on Thursday before the CSI repeat? Would have been nice if they had promoted it some – I just found it by accident.

This may seem a little crazy, however this is something that has bothered me. Allison and Joe spend alot of time in bed. It is pretty obvious that Allison is wearing a very uplifting bra. They are in bed and her breasts look like she just had two implants.They stick straight up. I doubt that Allison would really sleep with a bra on. I would suggest she wear a support bra that would make her breast somewhat flatter and more natural for those scenes. Has anybody else ever noticed this? I love this show and so glad CBS picked it up.

Betty, overall, Medium is doing respectable numbers this season, but if there’s any hope of another season, then they’ve got to get the 18-49 demo rating up somehow. Not saying it’s in danger of cancellation yet, but the demo rating has dropped somewhat from last season (from 2.5 to 1.95). I hope that things pick up when the show returns with new eps next week.
And did anyone see the teaser at the end of Friday’s episode? The one for next week. Was it just me or did that make no sense at all? I couldn’t understand what the announcer was saying, and I couldn’t hear half of what ws being said in the clip. Not the best way to promote new episodes. I’m just sayin’.
Dawn, I haven’t seen the promo yet! It was in my spoiler tv feed when I got in from work tonight but it’s not playing for me. Boo! That’s usually now I see them, location and all.
Maybe they’ll provide some photos of the episode beforehand, I can’t remember if they provided any for Kona to post or not with the last few episodes.
