Real-Life Surgeons Dig Grey's Anatomy

Yahoo! has an article about real-life surgeons who watch Grey’s Anatomy and who say that they love it in part for the realistic way that the show portrays surgeries.

The other days I asked if you guys felt the show was acting irresponsibly in its lack-of-punishment of Izzie’s actions. It seems to be the majority that feels that it’s just a show and should be given the liberty to stretch reality a bit. I agree with that. I mean, even “reality” shows have elements of fiction to them.

All the same, it’s nice to find information that give credibility to some of the aspects of the show we know and love. I know I’ve read many places that Shonda Rhimes hired real surgeons to help with the details of the surgeries, so it’s good to know that their expertise is coming through to others in the field.

I love the nature of the show in dealing with young proffessionals just starting out in the big bad world. I’m in a totally different field, but at the same point in my life as the interns are… and Grey’s is just so easy to relate to. Nevermind inspirational, especially when dealing with huge mistakes we all make.
Shonda Rhimes is truly a genius!
