Reality Stars Charged With Animal Cruelty

I’m all about protecting animals from being abused. I love animals and don’t ever want to see them mistreated. But this little reality TV news item strikes me as very odd and I’m not sure how to react to it.

Two reality stars on the UK version of I’m a Celebrity: Get Me Out of Here got tired of eating only rice and beans, so they killed a rat and made rat risotto. Now they are being charged with animal cruelty since they allegedly only killed the animal for entertainment purposes.

On the one hand, I definitely agree that killing an animal for entertainment is repugnant. But to kill an animal for sustenance is another thing. I have doubts they were in danger of dying of malnutrition, but it’s hard to know where the line is when it comes to killing animals for food. Personally, I’m vegetarian, but I’m trying to be open minded. What are your thoughts?

why are the other food network channels not also being charged for killing animals on Tv, in view of Tv viewers, such as a couple of turtles or the rabbit, and on another show a lamb was killed. I have stopped watching any food network programs until the, show on Tv, killings stop.
