We all know So You Think You Can Dance runner-up Rhys can bust a move, but did you know he’s also a mean singer?
We’ll soon get a chance to hear him flex his vocal chords on his debut single Hot Summer.
Just like Rhys’ moves on the dancefloor, his sound is anything but predictable.
“For me music and movement have always gone hand in hand. I like anything that makes me wanna dance. Be it indy and disco, to soulful house and gospel,” he explained in a press release.
“Growing up at the Johnny Young Talent School has definitely defined my eclectic tastes. Throw in some electro, breaks and I’m there! Major influences on me have been the likes of Prince, ELO, Madonna, Queen, Daft Punk, Madonna and Basement Jaxx. I’m also totally inspired by some amazing Aussie acts at the moment, like the Presets, Midnight Juggernauts, Gotye and Van She.”
The addictive “Hot Summer” will be Network Ten’s advertising soundtrack, so we’re sure to hear a lot more of it!It’s also available for download from iTunes on Monday.

Mwah Kaz x
Hey guys,
Rhys is soooooooooo lame, the song “hot summer” was released from a German girlgroup called “Monrose” 1,5 years ago.
Too bad Rhys!!!!
There’s nothing wrong with a cover Elisa … I think Rhys has done a great job with this song! It’s not exactly the deepest song in the world, but it’s really catchy!
Rhys did a better job than the 3 skanks who originally did this song, well done
omfg its soooooooo cool! i kno all the words off by heart
I really like the song. I didn’t really like the original, and they play bits of Rhys’ version on the radio, and I personally love it.
It’s a good song to bop along to, and considering Australia’s weather, is true!
To Elisa,
I reckon Rhys has done a terrific job of covering a song that no one has heard of before.
I guess for you to be critisizing, means you are jealous.
Keep up the good work Rhysie.
First you entertained me with your dance moves, then my little girl loves you in the Fairies show… and now this! I love your work! The costumes were awesome, the tribal dancing… that beat! LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!! You are such a talented lad! Good luck with it and i cant wait to see what else you bring to us in the future. Was this mixed by Van She? Kim
Hi Kim – yes Rhys is a man of many talents! And no it wasn’t Van She, it’s a Sydney production team called Super Shake. They’ve done an awesome job!
Just heard the original on youtube…lame
