Yay! It’s great to see Rihanna stepping out and becoming more comfortable with being in the spotlight. Now that she’s been performing live and will be appearing on several TV shows, she’s also taken the step of appearing on the cover of Glamour magazine.
The singer mainly said that she’s gotten a lot of support from her friends and family since being assaulted by Chris Brown earlier this year.
Rihanna told the magazine, “My friends and family have been extremely supportive, and everyone has been there for me. But at some point you are there alone. It’s a lonely place to be—no one can understand. That’s when you get close to God.”![]()
When asked if she was referring to the Chris Brown incident, she responded with, “I am talking about starting with the night [before] the Grammys and then on. That was not the only thing that occurred this year. The picture leaking…it was one thing after another.
They asked how she felt about the photo of her, battered after the assault, being leaked. She says, “It was humiliating; that is not a photo you would show to anybody.” She went on to say that she was taken advantage of and that it was used as a form of amusement, meanwhile she’s suffering. She felt really let down after she discovered that it may have been two women who leaked the photo.
Rihanna also says that she’s changed as a woman because she’s strong and feels wiser. She also really got to see how her decisions affect her fans.
One of the key parts of the interview is when she spoke about how domestic violence affects women. She says domestic violence is “a big secret” and that nobody talks about it.
She says, “It’s one of the things we [women] will hide, because it’s embarrassing. My story was broadcast all over the world for people to see, and they have followed every step of my recovery.” She also adds that there have been benefits because now she feels she represents domestic violence victims.
Ri-Ri also revealed that she was involved in a lot of the writing for her album, Rated R. She claims that she’’ put a lot of emotion and words that she’s wanted to let out for the past eight months and has put it out there for everyone. She reveals that it’s quite a personal album. Many people have been disappointed by the music she’s put out but she says, “I would not change anything about it. Even if people don’t love it, I made exactly the piece of art that I wanted to make. It’s super fearless—which is exactly how I feel right now. I am in a really good place.”
Could we ask for anything more?! I mean, her true fans will stick by her no matter what kind of music she put out. She loves it and it’s given her a chance to release the emotions that have been building up. Whatever makes Ri-Ri happy makes me happy!

I love Rihanna, but I think it sucks that she is “speaking about the situation” and “speaking up for those who have encountered domestic violence” now. She is only doing these interviews because her album is coming out this month. All this time she has been running around New York and Paris for fashion week and she didn’t say a word then…shame on her management team, publicist, and anyone who is supposedly helping shape her career.
i feel rihanna’s pain………smfh….shes 2 good for chris because no REAL man hits his woman. PERIOD. i’ve been thru that but no more .
by the way shes sooooo pretty =]
