Rock of Love Bus Suffers a Tragedy

Bret MichaelsWhile taping the new season of Rock of Love, a fatal car accident occurred in Illinois. The bus was driving across the state, but luckily was not actually involved in the accident. According to vh1.com and STLToday.com, a crew member was driving himself separately ahead of the bus to the next stop and got into a fatal accident on Interstate 57 on Friday afternoon.

It seems that the crew member may have been the cause of the accident that resulted in two deaths in one car and two serious injuries in a second car. The two fatalities were two young women, a sophomore at Southern Illinois University and the other, a resident of Florrissant, Missouri.

Bret Michaels has asked to take some time away from the series out of respect for the victims’ families and so that he can reach out to them personally. When asked about the incident he released this statement:

“As a father of two, I cannot even imagine what the families must be going through at this time. I will make every attempt to reach out to them to let them know that my heart and prayers are with them during their time of grief.”

Our hearts go out to the victims in their incredible time of grief.

Very unfortunate loss. My thoughts to those families. The ‘tour’ should have never abandoned the rule they always had in place which was for every member to be on the (a) bus and never be able to drive themselves. The job on the road is too taxing & tiring. Driving afterwards or whenever, is exhausting. They should have been on one of the buses and perhaps this could have been avoided. Sad state of affairs.

And geez, Bret, if you want to get away with whats left of any self respect (or that which some still have for you- and I am, or was until your sinking second season), you won’t do these stupid love shows anymore to support a flagging career. Makes you look foolish and it’s not necessary. In the end, you’ve lost more in fans, than you’ve gained directly b/c of these RoL shows. Time to grow up and be a man- and be a decent role model for those little daughters of yours. Try spending TIME with them and not popping in and out between tours. Daughters with absent dads don’t fair well. Hopefully Kristi is exceptionally strong for them. Good luck in… whatever.

I think it is horrible what happened and I hope that Brett’s camp has learned from it. It seems that Brett especially could learn from it. Bad things happen when the party goes on the road.
I used to have respect for Brett as a musician and as a rocker who seemed to still have some decency and self respect even in the crazy world he lives in, but as with the lives of those involved in the crashes ..sometimes you can’t see what’s happening untill it’s too late. My best to all involved. And a word to Brett … what kind of father dumps a woman who wants to be with you for a girl who can party the best…. how do you want your girls to think about women … I mean do they get a strip pole for Christmas? Your not looking for love …. you ” ain’t looking for nothing but a good time”

That’s the only dose of (very somber) reality in this show, which otherwise is on another planet. Terrible tragedy.

My daughter used to party with you and ‘the band’ back in the 80’s. She would send us pictures of all her “fun”. She’s married to a awesome man now and has two gorgeous children for the last several years. She got her masters degree in education and now teaches school. I am sooooooo grateful she grew up.
