Rory and Logan were not over!!

Matt Czuchry is my hero! He spilled to Ausiello that if Gilmore Girls had confirmed its 13-episode Season 8, he was inked to come back. Rory and Logan were not over! Well, we don’t know that for sure, but for sure that whether they worked things out or if they broke it off in a less-rushed way, there was more of the Rory and Logan story to be played out.

Question: What is Alexis Bledel up to these days? — Maria

Ausiello: Beats me, but had Gilmore Girls been back this season, she would’ve been (wait for it) spending time with ex-leading man Matt Czuchry! No lie. Czuchry recently confirmed to me that despite Rory and Logan’s series-ending split, he quietly inked a new deal with the show last spring that — if Gilmore was renewed for an abbreviated, 13-episode eighth season — would’ve called for Logan to return. "Contractually, there was an agreement that I would come back for a certain amount of episodes," reveals the upcoming Friday Night Lights guest star, who insists TPTB didn’t clue him in on why Logan would’ve returned. "I don’t know [what would've happened], because those episodes were never written. There were a lot of hypotheticals about what those 13 episodes would be." At the very least, the return engagement probably would’ve given Rory-Logan a better send-off than the forced breakup we got. Looking back, even Czuchry concedes the duo’s split felt rushed. "I felt like that particular episode, where he asks her to marry him and then they break up and it’s done, just felt like too much at once considering that this relationship was something that had evolved over three seasons." That said, he acknowledges that Gilmore producers were in a tough spot creatively because "when they shot the episode, it wasn’t known whether it was a season finale or a series finale. I think that if everybody would’ve known that it was a series finale, things would have went differently."

What do you think? Do you think that they would have kept Rory and Logan together for a happy ending if they had planned it as a series finale? Or, if there had been another season, would they still break up?

Do you think Amy Sherman-Palladino would bring Logan back if they did a Gilmore Girls movie?

I absolutely love the Rory-Logan combo. Sure they’re not anything alike, but that’s what’s great about it. They balance each other out. He helps her to have more fun and she keeps him focused and grounded. And with time, the two ended up rubbing off on each other I think. He grew up and she learned to be independent and to not be so cautious and go for what she wants. I hated how they broke up. I really wanted her to say yes, well because I would have said yes, but I understand where the show was going with her saying no too. I think it could have ended up being a great future story line–them dealing with love not being enough. I hope to see a movie someday that sort of gives more closure to the series with Luke & Lorelai getting married and Logan and Rory getting back together. I’d love if Rory & Logan had one of those run into each other after a couple years apart sort of moments.

yah i know this is years overdue, but just felt like commenting since abc is airing season 7 for the first time and i never saw it. the only thing i really wanted to know was what happened to rory and logan’s relationship and now i am happy to know that they did not survive! i HATE logan’s character. i’ve dreaded watching them together. it wasn’t about them being different as a good thing. he does not deserve someone like rory. if anything his (bad) influence on her was more harmful than good. even if they continued with the show and they somehow got back together, i have a strong feeling the writers know that someone like logan would never be a great fit for rory in the long run. so yah im happy they ended it that way.

obviously she would i mean she became such a push over during the last seasons knowing her and logan’s relationship he would do the same thing he did to get her back like he did before and rory would be all oooooh logan because she is in a delicate state because they just broke up and logan wouldve smothered in to being with her and the 8th season would’ve been horrible just like the 5th 6th 7th seasons. i wouldnt even watch the 8th season if he was in the episodes as her boyfriend. you know you all agree with me so can we just get on with our lives and stop saying to yourselves i love logan and rory together because their relationship was unhealthy and stupid and i wanted to smash the tv everytime rory/logan went crawling back to eachother, matter of fact i wanted to smash the tv everytime they were together in a scene and that was alot!!!

I like Logan’s character. I think Rory and Logan work. Even if that last episode was a series finale or the possibility of a half 8th season, I don’t think that they should’ve made the ‘break up’ so final. The writers shouldn’t have written for Logan to propose to Rory. I think it should’ve been more open and less final to leave Rory’s and Logan’s future to the imagination of the audience. I don’t really like these new writers, especially when they had Lorelai and Christopher get married, but that is off topic. It doesn’t seem like Logan would’ve come back after Rory rejected him because he had to go off to San Francisco. I do think that Rory was right to say ‘no’ as it would be harder have her own freedom and independence as a journalist if she was married. I don’t think that Logan was such a bad influence on Rory. It was all Rory who started her rebelliousness which made her into a more normal and flawed character. In the first few seasons, she was perfect and hard working but this changes things. Rory started changing when she slept with Dean, who was married at the time. I do think that Rory was a good influence on Logan and she made him try commitment for a change. I don’t think that ASP would bring back Logan with that type of ending. It is too final and there’s no reason for him to come back or for Rory to accept him back even though she loved him.

Anonymous, you’re being hypocritical. I agree that Rory and Logan seem over but Jess and Rory are also over.
