Mac! I love that bit too! On eof my friends live in India & she NEVER gets what I mean when I say things like that - it's so funny!

In terms of to perm or not to perm, I think that for both of them this was a time that they had to come to terms with the fact that they are both adults now - granted Rory is still young & needs her mother but she is definitely old enough to see that her mother needs/wants someone in her life. Lorelai needs to comprehend that this change is happening and could work out well for both of them. With both of them starting to realise this they can move on and "perm" without being terrified of what the other may think.

Lorelai immediately clicked with Max at school (don't really know why) and then her concern was about Rory.
Rory immediately clicked with Dean too on her last day at SH high school but she probably remembers how her mother reacted to this...

So they didn't know how to include this possible relationship in their mother-daughter relationship. That's why they both do it secretely at first. But in the end, they do what they really want, like the Gilmore girls always do. They want to explore this gut feeling.

More than this perm or no to perm question, my favourite scene is when Sookie doesn't understand what Lorelai means when she says "and you know it might be good to, you know..." That's hilarious!

At this stage Max Medina is used to say more about Lorelai's character. Or it's one those bizarreness about GG. Why does she choose to flee such a man? I've never understood. Yet, perhaps women could answer me. If there is a response.
In this matter, even the character of Rory is treated bizarrely, as if she still were a little girl incapable of any understanding, or too fragile to see her mother's happiness.
But as I said, perhaps women has some knowledge or needs in this matter that escape my understanding ?
