I debated about whether or not to even bother writing about this because, on the one hand, who cares? However, on the other hand, several readers have emailed me to ask me to post about it so we can talk about it. So here you go.
Roseanne Barr posted a blog entry of her own, where she ripped apart Jon Voight, then went on to tear down Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. One classy gem is this:
your evil spawn Angelina Jolie and her vacuous hubby Brad Pitt make about forty million dollars a year in violent psychopathic movies and give away three of it to starving children trying to look as if they give a crap about humanity as they spit out more dunces that will consume more than their fair share and wreck the earth even more. (Just sayin’).
I don’t even really know what to say. I know that not everyone is going to love Brad and Angelina, and honestly, I really don’t expect everyone to do so. Everyone’s entitled to an opinion, but what purpose is served by spewing such incredible vitriol as that? There are several celebrities that I personally can’t stand, but I can’t be bothered to go out of my way to blast each one of them – nor do I go to fan websites and snark over there. I just leave it at “I really don’t like XYZ” and there’s no need for more.
I can only wonder if Roseanne has some new project coming up and needs to direct some free publicity her way. Slamming two major stars who are of interest to a great deal of people? That is a surefire way to get attention.
Never mind that she’s not even right. Brad and Angelina donate a great deal more money than just $3 million. I’d love Roseanne to let us know how much SHE gives to those in need on a regular basis.
I won’t even get into the snarky tone she uses when discussing the Jolie-Pitt children.
It’s a shame and it saddens me because I was always a huge fan of Roseanne – in fact I still love to watch the show Roseanne in re-runs in the evenings. She never failed to make me laugh (especially now that I’m a mother myself and can relate even more), but now she’s just making me sigh.
Ugh. In light of this, let’s all watch the wonderful video that reader Lara linked to in the comments a few entries back, a video showing some of the great work Angelina Jolie has done with the UNHCR – some of the footage includes things Brad Pitt has done too.
Take THAT, Roseanne.

I am a democrat living in NYC, but I found Angie’s comments about McCain kinda refreshing. So many actors seem to just go in for being liberal, and act as though they’re saints because of it. Angie is independent-minded, something which you’d think Roseanne could appreciate. In the end, as reported by the Huffington Post, Angie really just said she’s waiting to make up her mind about the candidates, even though both of them have asked for her endorsement.
Not to be mean…. but I believe that she suffers, or has suffered from mental illness. Also, she’s basically a washed-up actor and is looking for attention – good or bad. It’s sad really.
Sherry what happened to my post. It doesn’t even say under moderation?
Well here we go again. Here is another case of an American talking about politics while not taking the time to read up on the issues and and consequences of polices. She obviously only believes what the “out for a sale” news broadcasters and papers report. While I believe it is great that the Americans have finally voted a person of race into a position where he or she may become the president, I hope with all my heart that they will pick the best person for the job and not just to prove some point that is long over due. I personally do not believe any actor should support a politician and I can not respect a person who would actually tell another person how they are going to vote. Voting is a deeply personal matter and should not be announced to the world. In the case of this presidential election there are long term effects to both candidates policies that will effect people not only in the US. If and I do say IF AJ has said she is voting republican I can understand why. If the US pulls out of the war torn parts of the world too soon it will be make the job of the Aid workers that much harder to get to the places where people in need, need them. There are hundreds of thousands of repercussions to US polices, and as a world power the US has to take that responsibility seriously, and the other countries in the world need to have respect for the US commitment to help others in need. The last I will say on this is that no one side of an argument is completely right, every thing is not always black and white the whole world is in fact a gray blur. One can only do ones best.
I’m sorry for the double posts.
Idea for a new entry, good news instead of unstable people out for attention

The first houses in New Orleans are going up and this is something to rejoice.
Everyone seems to forget that a huge chunk of what they earned goes to Uncle Sam for TAXES. Roseanne made it look like they all have that 40 million and just giving out 3, more reality would be NET income of 24 million and giving out 10 million. Roseanne is just a “has been” and is in need of attention. Roseanne overall is a person with no class. There was no need of her to say all those nasty words.
Once trailer trash, always trailer trash. Her big mouth made her money, so I guess now she actually thinks she is some kind of spokes woman. Shut up, Roseann…no one cares what you think..
guess you forgot where you came from.
Go have your face tightened again.
Well, let it be said, she is one sad gal……..and it comes out in what she says.
Barr did say that since they have children of color, then to give them a good example, they should support a “brown” man. That sounds like using race not real issues to me.
No one needs to endorse anyone if they don’t want to and I at this point hope Angelina keeps her opinion to herself. Brad has been a democrat for years, and has supported democratic candidates, so if he supports Obama, and I truly believe that he does, that would only be natural for him, but Angelina has never been polititcal in that way.
Barr in her rant on Obama and Voight in his support of McCain have pretty much made fools of themselves in print, so I guess there is equal opportunity for stupidity on both sides.
Roseanne is the perfect example of how when a person finally gets to the bottom of the cesspool they have created in their life they want to bring others down with them. We all go through life with some regrets. Thats the beauty of it. It is never too late to change. To go down a different more rewarding road. What I can’t understand is the comments being made are coming from a woman who left a husband who loved her and two beautiful children. I can’t imagine leaving my children. And how many times has she been married? Now she has nothing and she wants to lash out at those who do. Typical.
what is Roseanne smoking? That entry is incomprehensible and so unbelievably cruel – I don’t think any NORMAL person would write that.
I don’t think any of us should worry about it, because the way it was written has wrecked her credibility. No need to even refute or dignify that blog entry.
I think Angelina should endorse Obama because as Phoebe said McCain will only make problems in third world countries worse. However, i think Roseanne went the wrong way about it. A pathetic way to be frank.
ok i am NOT supporting her actions…but i see some of you just got one thing wrong. Roseanne didn´t mean Angie should support Obama because he is an Afro-American. she meant she should NOT support McCAin because he and the Republicans follow a politic that is the opposite of Angies support for the UN. thinking about it objectively, Roseanne does have a point (wait no yelling i am NOT finished yet) BUT i do not think that the way R. voiced her opinion was the right choice. everone has the right to voice their opinion, its called freedom of speech. but Roseanne just went too far. she could have voiced her opinion in a more adult way and especially leave out the kids. her blog made me speechless as i read it – it was to aggressive and mean. it was NOT funny either.
ehmmm ok i am NOT supporting this Roseanne blog, but some of you actually said that Roseanne said that Angie should support Obama because he is black? thats not what she said: she meant that Angie should not support McCain because he and the Republicans would just increase the problems in the Third World and are already partly responsible for the misery there. their politics are not supporting Angies support for the UN. thinking about this objectively, she does have a point. but the way she voiced her mind was very low and again i do NOT support her comments especially about the kids. i am thinking that its clever from ANgie that she stays “neutral”, maybe she´ll have to work with one of them later and it would be negative if she would have voiced her choise against the man she could possibly work with later.
I do not think we should discuss this as this is exactly what she wants – attention! Let us move on to a new topic please, Sherry. This only gives us very negative feelings.
We all know that these are flatly untrue, so why are we wasting our time discussing this? Isn’t this exactly what she wants to achieve i.e. people talking about her and her article?
Let’s stop here and let’s not give her the attention she wants. Also, discussing this gives us very negative feelings. Let’s start another thread, Sherry.
Barr is, as usual, desperate for some kind of publicity here, good or bad, and she’s gotten it. If the public just ignores inflammatory stuff like this, it’ll go away… and hopefully, so will RB…
Passerby> “It makes you sit and wonder damn I haven’t done anything near this caliber of good”> my thoughts exactly :( but the video, indeed, puts a smile on one’s face. It’s so simply heartmelting!
Thanks for the Videos Sherry and 804.
I saw the new trailer Sunday, NBC managed to prolong the wait until almost 11pm, but it was worth it.
Can’t wait for this film.
