Generally I don’t like to pay much attention to tabloid buzzings, but they’re hard to avoid completely. For one thing, I work in entertainment media, I see the headlines whether I like to or not. For another, they’re all right in your face when you go shopping. It’s hard to miss them.
The truth is, though, sometimes I find them utterly hilarious. They just keep guessing and pretend they know what’s really going on by quoting nameless “inside sources”, and then when they’re proven wrong they try another tactic.
For example, last week half the tabloids were full of doom and gloom stories that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie had split up because Angie was in the U.S. and Brad was in Germany and they hadn’t seen each other in ages. Naturally, this all looked pretty silly when we all saw that Brad was in the U.S., in Los Angeles with Angelina. Oops! What will they do to cover their mistaken news again?
Well, this week, we have OK magazine claiming, loud and proud on their front cover that Brad and Angelina are getting married and preparing for their next adoption.
Of course, this is all just jumping off the statement that Angelina made recently – to proper media sources instead of tabloids – that if she and Brad get married it will be because the kids ask them to. That doesn’t mean there’s an immediate wedding in their plans.
And naturally, the adoption angle comes from her comment that they will adopt again but not right away, especially since they just had two babies. It also likely neglects to mention that many international adoptions can take up to a year.
No, they just use their cover to make it sound like Brad and Angelina are getting married any second now and have a baby ready to be picked up within the week. Which is hilarious since there was so much talk about how they had broken up.
I guess they just figure that as long as they keep guessing, eventually they might get it right.
What’s your favorite tabloid headline this week (about the Jolie-Pitt family or any other celebrity)?
Looks like I am the only Pittwatcher around right now. Maybe everyone is at the movies. I hope to get there tomorrow. One headline I saw this week when I was standing in the grocery line, Brad refuses to marry Angie because she hurt Jen again when she told the world that they fell in love during the making of Mr & Mrs Smith. I have kind of reached the point that I am really sick and tired of all of these crazy headlines. My personal belief is that right now this couple loves each other very very much. Their children mean everything in the world to them. I hope this love will last forever, and I see no reason why it will not. They are at a point in their lives where they have attained most of the things that are important to them. Of course like all couples things come up, you have a little disagreement but then you work it out. They love their kids to much not to try to work it out. My husband and I have been together for 50 years and believe me we have been thru a lot of bad and hard times. But here we are still together because we always worked it out. I don’t think that acting is the most important thing to them any more. It gives them the money which helps them do the things they really care about and also sets their children up for life.

on the other hand, i just got back from seeing the Changeling. i loved it. i highly recommend it. two big thumbs up!! the 2 hours and 20 minutes did not seemed like long time at all.
I know that this post is about the headlines, but I am soooo excited. I just got home from seeing Changeling. My boyfriend and I were going tonight but he had to work, so I went alone. He does not know, we are going again tomorrow.
Let me say that I loved the movie. I don’t want to spoil it for anyone but I have to say it was really good. I don’t know what the critics were missing in the movie, but I felt it was well organized and well told. If I had not known it was a true story, I would have had a hard time believing that this kind of stuff went on. But I loved that the feel of the movie took me to the 20 and 30’s. Costumes, Scenery everything just beautiful. Now to Angie. What can I say.. First let me tell you about the audience. I wish I could say that the theater was full, but not. I was half full. Still great considering we are having Georgia Florida Weekend. If you know football you know what I mean. Any way the crowd was mixed. Young and old. It was nice to go to a movie full of adults. Anyway, everyone was so into it. NO ONE went to the bathroom once… I was watching. They laughed (not it is not a comedy, but it had moments that made you laugh at the absurdity of the Police and other around this woman). We gasped and cried at how she was treated, and the ending of it all. Angie was very believable. I had to remember that this was the 20’s. Women were seen not heard. They were not respected at all, and kept their place. I think many of the critics are so used to Angie being a strong kick ass, they want that in every role. She played it just right. There are so many scenes I want to write about, but I don’t want to spoil it for others. The supporting cast was terrific. Jeffery D was super, and John M. But I have to say that I got a quiver with the man who played the attorney.. When he said ” it will be my honor to defend you honor”, everyone in the theater clapped. and went a little crazy. I found that statement and him quite Sexy. I don’t know why. I have to find more info on him. Older men can still do it for me. Sorry I digress. The story is just so moving. Hard in places, but well worth the time. I heard two women leaving who said, “Gosh she is so good, I loved her in this movie” Yes they were talking about Angie.
One thing I noticed was that all the previews were of the movies that are getting the Oscar buzz.. MILK, Curious Case of BB, Australia, Frost/Nixon. Changeling should be there too. A really good movie… Must see.
Fans you need to get off you butts and see this film Angie deserves our support. It is well worth it. Sorry for the long post, but I had and still have so much to say. I get back to you.
I was just at Foxnews.com and amazingly enough there was a “news” item about Angie and Brad. It seems that Brad’s mom and Dad are very dissapointed with the pictures of Angie on the W magazine. Their source you ask: Star Magazine. That most reliable of all the tabloids. Following the link (and that was my second mistake) it seems that Angie is a nervous wreck over Diane Kruger. She is also in the IB, filming in Germany. They have Ms. Kruger and Brad moving in with each other. I agree with Mary Ann. How can anyone look at this family and feel that they are not in LOVE. Unfortunately is all about sales of trash. Sherry, thank God for you you keep it honest.
Mary Ann- I agree! I am also sick and tired of all the crazy headlines about them. In particular, I am sick and tired of the whole “love triangle” STILL being brought up. It has been almost FOUR YEARS, for goodness sake! Not only that, but it is quite obvious that all parties involved have moved on.
I have no way of knowing for sure, of course, but I would guess that Jen is sick and tired of constantly being painted as the “victim” and having her name attatched to Brad and Angie all the time.
The things I hate the most about the tabs bringing up the “love triangle” are:
-That it’s always so one-sided. By that I mean it’s always Angie who gets blamed. The tabs act like she was the only one who fell in love and that Brad had no responsibility for whatever happened.
-That they completely ignore the fact that Jen also hopped into bed with Vince before the ink was dry on the divorce papers.
Anyway, I have to chuckle at the Wedding and Adoption cover. Obviously OK completely missed the fact that Angie also said that the adoption process can’t be started until any new children are six months old. Therefore, the earliest they can even start the process is Janaury.
Anyway, with Angie’s recent trip to Afghanastan, how long do you think it will take for the tabs to start claiming she’s adopting from Afghanastan?

ITA, Mary Ann. I saw that headline also. The earlier version had Brad refusing to get married because he was too traumatized from his divorce.
Hee, Keats, I predicted the Kruger/Pitt hook-up in an earlier post as soon as the casting was announced. The tabs are so predictable.
I also want to add that I highly doubt Brad would say something like “Angie, you’d better not say one bad word about Jen, or else!” I’m not in anyway implying that he wants to see her hurt or anything.
All I’m saying is that I’m sure he knows that Jen is a big girl and can take care of herself!
I just got home from the movie I saw Changeling it was good, I kept asking people I dont even know thier opinion of it they all like it, the theater was about 75% full I hope it dose well, I love it,but then I love anything she dose. Sometime it’s true when ever she dose movies all we look at is her face, I try to follow the story but I ended up just following her face. I just dont read those mag anymore, I just don’t care, I get too emotional when it bad and I just have a bad day so I stay away, I somtimes look and say it’s a lie and I feel better. I just keep hope alive for them in my heart.
I am so tired of these tabs reports that he has hooked up with Diane Kruger, they always hook them up with their costars and sell mags, remember when he was shooting Tree of life there where photos of him talking to his costar, then it was on CCOBB with him kissing the actress for the film!
Then it was Angie hooking up with bodyguard, Oliver Martinez, Colin Farrel, Johnny Lee Miller, BBT….
I wish they show up so everybody calm down!!!
I would love them get married someday but it’s not me who will decide it will be their decision. I tried to ignore what the tabloids write about them, most of them are trash anyway. I believe their relationship will last because they have this mutual respect,admiration,love,& family. I doubt if Brad will fall to his co-worker during filming of any movies, he will lose a lot if he does. He is better off with Angie, she is the best that ever happen to him.God bless the Jolie-Pitt’s.
I once upon a time brought those magazines for those so interesting lead-ins stories. Until I got tried of that mystery source from the inside. Guess what? I finally got smart. Trash sells, and I stop buying.

I haven’t read the whole article, just a few excerpts online but the Star story is too funny. They say Brad and Diane are having a torrid affair but fail to mention that Diane has been dating Joshua Jackson for a couple of years. They have Angelina enraged but Diane’s boyfriend doesn’t have a reaction?

Changling was terrific. My husband even loved it and he is a westerns and action movie guy. As far as the tabs go. Brad and Angie will always be on the covers lies or not because the tabs are in financial trouble and they know Brad and Angie sell their rags. I wish people would stop buying them but that will never happen. But at least fewer people are.

Star doesn´t say anything about an affair , what is inside the mag. is nothing compare to the cover , they say she was kind of flirting and letting him know how excited she was to work with him again and that what ´s got Angie nervous is that Angie thinks this girl has a crush on him and is affraid that somethig COULD HAPPEN .THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT POSSIBILITIES …. NOT A FACT , THEY ARE NOT STUPID THEY KNOW THAT´S NOT TRUE ….

As for Halloween, the Jolie-Pitt clan went trick-or-treating.
Maddox dressed as a marine with a helmet, Zahara chose a Jolly Green Giant outfit and Shiloh dressed as a sheriff.
According to Star, Shiloh saying to Angie, “I want more candy, mom.”
Angelina told her, “You’ll get more, there are more houses.” Shiloh was tired by the end of their trick-or-treating, good dad Brad Pitt carried her.
I’m not quite sure about the Star interview thing but i think Shiloh’s sheriff costume was too cute.
Am NOT surprised that Fixed News believes and promotes Star magazine! After all they themselves are such bastions of truth telling!

Also saw Changeling yesterday, wonderful story. The whole cast was fabulous! The audience was a mixture of old and young, but mainly couples!
Am glad that it surpassed the studio estimates.

Saw Changeling on Friday, love it. Will see it again. As for the tabs, they really make me furious. I can understand why Brad and Angie do not read them. They would go crazy. I feel sorry for Brad’s family especially his mom and dad. They are probably use to it. They know the truth. Although I know that part of the Star story is not completely true, it sounds really cute! How do they know what Shi said? Oh, forget a source told them. Think the pic of Brad and Z was taken by someone out doing tric/treat, probably took with their cellphone.
Glad to see that Brad and Angie are having a good time with their family. I try to not believe the tabs but it really gets to me sometimes when I am in line at the store. My dtr believes the tabs. It is funny because they all contradict each other and contradict themselves! Look at Star, what is on their cover this week and then they have something about them being out for Halloween today!
I don’t get it….who’s buying these ridiculous stories in the tabloids? Granted, we don’t all have easy access to the internet for real information, but there’s no excuse to fall for the silly, sensational headlines.
Oh and forgot to comment that the Halloween pic is sooo adorable! It’s great that they managed to pull of an hour or so of trick-or-treating for the kids. They’ve always said they want them raised as normal as possible. Obviously it takes a great security team to arrange and pull it off, but it’s nice to hear they did it.
It’s all about money. Publishers of those tabloids will do anything to sell their rags. When they write an article, it is usually 0.1% true and 99.9% lie.
I saw Changeling last Friday in Georgia. On Saturday, I drove to visit a friend in N. Carolina and saw it again. I wanted to see it again today when I got back to S. Carolina where I live, but a co-worker wanted me to watch it with her next weekend when she she’s back from her cruise. You can say I love the movie!! It is a wonderful movie, and Angie is really great in it, so are the rest of the cast. Clint’s direction is right on and so is his music score. Those who have not seen it, you should all go! It is long, but the story is riveting and not at all boring!
Mary Ann, you have said exactly what I was thinking. The sad thing is our local media here always pick up those tabloid news. I know many people out there believe in those tabloids. Many of them do not know that they are all lies. I was one of the victims until I visited Pittwatch. Now I would not believe in any of the reports about the JPs unless confirmed by Pittwatch or People mag.
When I went to see the Changeling there was a girl sitting two seats down from me, she kept making comments about what was going on, like “liar”, that’s not right, outloud. She cheered Angie when they got her out of the pysche hosptal and at the end. She was hilarious!!!

I just came home with my girlfriend after seeing Changeling at the Irvine Spectrum. It was one of the best film this year. The story is breathtaking and so moving. At the end, I heard applause from the middle rows. I was elated and proud of Angie and Clint. I know the town where it happened because my in-laws used to live there when they were alive.
My favorite tabloid non-story has to be the break up rumors. Either they are together too much (and Brad is smothered) OR they are apart too much (Brad is bored). Major yuks as they are both soooo made up.
I wish we´d get over commenting on false tabloid rumours. It´s such a waste of time and giving them far too much credit!!
Sherry, I actually believe they got married. I am from a very different corner of the world and according to traditions in many of the countries here people wear the wedding rings on their right hands (as Brad and Angie). As they are international family they might have considered just changing the hands…it’s not wrong it’s just different hand, but the meaning is the same. Tabloids say all that shit cause they just want money…more sold copies = more money.
I can’t believed most of you have seen Changeling except me. I can’t wait to see it when it gets here on Post theater or when I go back home.

I just read how Brad is already flirting with Diane Kruger.. which leads to the assumption of trouble in their relationship. I all I can do is laugh when I read stuff like that. Seriously.
I don’t put much faith in the Halloween story since it comes from Star, but this exchange that they claimed happened makes me laugh anyway:

It makes me smile because it reminds me of my youngest this year. She’s almost three and at EVERY SINGLE HOUSE she went up, said “trick or treat!” then said “thank you, merci!” and immediately turned to me to ask, “we get more candy Mommy?” Every time! It was cute.
The only difference is that my little one had no desire to be carried. She walked every step of the way, and even refused to let me or my husband carry her bag of candy for her, even when she was so tired that it dragged on the ground. I had to hold that hand so I could lift the bag up a bit for her. She’s still so little!
Needless to say, my six-year-old was always at least a half a block ahead of her little sister, trick-or-treating with her friends and their parents.
We did a ghost costume for the big girl and a witch costume for the little one (and me too!).

Polly- If they got married, then why did Angie recently allude to the fact that they AREN’T married (by saying in one of her recent interviews that IF they get married, it will be because the kids ask them to. She then went on to explain that they’ve started asking things such as “How come Shrek and Fiona are married and you’re not?”)?
Considering how honest Angie is in her interviews, if they HAD gotten married, I think she would have come right out and said so, rather than saying that whole thing about getting married if the kids ask them to.
Also, if they got married, then how come the media doesn’t know a thing about the wedding? As watched as they are, I doubt they could pull of a wedding without the media finding out about it (granted, there is the Star story, but it sounds like it’s another one of those “sources tell us….” stories rather).
As for their rings….They could very well be “commitment rings”, as in they show their commitment for each other.
