There truly isn’t much left for Tom Cruise to do to settle once and for all in the general public’s mind that he is completely batshit crazy, but yet, the man still tries. You do have to admire his persistence…at least, you COULD, if he wasn’t giving off the creepy sinister vibe behind the genial Top Gun face.

Not having seen the video, I like to imagine that he’s speaking this in a monotone while clenching his fingers over and over again…of course he doesn’t blink at all, and as soon as he is done speaking he gets up and plugs Katie back into the wall modulator. (I’ve watched too many X-Files episodes.)

Who the hell are you to criticize his religion? The guy is a good husband a great Dad AND a darn good actor so why must you find fault with the guys religion..
Don’t you have anything better to write about? Didn’t Britney run over someone’s foot or something like that…
Last I checked we have the right to choose our religion…
FYI I’m not into scienology but I sure as heck don’t have the right to judge another persons beliefs AND GUESS WHAT? NEITHER DO YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Marietta Roman is right about judging other peoples religions as wrong, BUT, these words are the words of a fanatic and not only a believer. I know people of many religions and they all agree with me that this guy is close to nuts, in the least a dangerous fanatic. To have such strong beliefs is quite ok. But to go public with them is a whole other ballpark, especially since Mr. Cruise is a big Hollywood star. As a celebrity he is a rolemodel for many people and youngsters out in the world. People may be easily drawn to his thoughts and ideas without knowing the slightest idea what is going on. I have read quite a lot about scientology, and the impression that I am left with is that it is one of the few accepted “cults” that we have in our world of religion. They channel through celebritys and powerful people to get their attention. It’s the same with christianity only it’s much more accepted amongst “the normal people”
My point is, whatever religious views and beliefs that people may have is all good. But keep in mind that wars are often started by people with extreme views of their political and religious views. That is why I think Tom Cruise is a little dangerous, not the Scientologist belief. Who knows what he might do.

Look, it’s true that we’re all allowed to have freedom of religion and freedom of speech and all that, but fanatics like this are scary. No matter which religion you are a part of fanatics spoil the bunch. and Tom is definitely a fanatic.

Ok, so most people don’t know exactly what Tom Cruise means by this discourse, but one cannot deny the passionate commitment he has toward the betterment of mankind. I totally respect his idea of using his enormous wealth and iconic position in the world community to foster a better place, and not stand by, but to actually cause change to improve the life of the downtrodden, oppressed part of our common humanity.
People that feel he is spooky, or not rational, don’t realize how joyful he feels about what he and his wife have chosen to do with their fortunate position with this short stay on this small planet. He is trying to embrace the full meaning of “the gift of life” is to help humanity by making the world a better place because you have lived, whether it be by teaching children, loving the unloved, or even just smiling and being kindly to all you meet.
I’m an actor in NYC and know that the vast majority of the people in the industry of stage, TV, film, and the music world are committed to ONLY ONE THING. That shallow earthly delight is the pursuit of self-gratification on a continual basis, not concerning themselves with the welfare and betterment of those less fortunate in the rest of humanity. They conduct themselves with total disregard for who is around them and in their way to successfully attaining their selfish goal.
When the Greek philosopher, Aristotle, was asked by one of his students, “Why are we here? What is the reason for us being born into this world, Master?”
His reply was simple but profound. “We are placed in this world, my son, for only one purpose…to help mankind.”
Jesus gave the world the eleventh commandment to add to the ten His Father had given Moses.
It dovetails with Aristotle’s profound answer to his fledgling student.
Jesus said, “Love one another and all the other commandments will be met by following this one.”
Tom Cruise or Brad Pitt, should ignore their critics and continue to follow their God given intuition. This is to fight the horrific evil that has suppressed humanity for thousands of years.
People try to look smart by criticizing others. That is what is happening when people say Tom Cruise’s discourse on Scientology is a rant by an irrational person. It is NOT.

Why does society look at actors as role models? Actors work entails playing make believe and sputtering lines from a script written by somebody else.
Actors are NOT paid to think for themselves.
And, why does society look to organized religious groups to provide answers?
Just think, why are these groups trying to enlist participants? who is benefiting from that? Who is getting rich from that?
Anyone that has their own mind would be wise to avoid any nonsense like the stuff tom cruise promotes!

You know a lot about a group of people – religion country… by how they treat their disabled people. I have a friend who has a severely disabled son and someone (Scientologist) walked up to them in a parking lot and started to tell the mother that her son was acting like this because he was evil. The child with CP was right there. He told her that this acting was being done to torment the mother and pull her down. I think it is truly sad when those who are helpless/voicless are treated in this way. Are the scientologist really out there to help others?? — People who are in car accidents – children who have been injured before or after birth (CP)…. hmmmm?

Okay, I have read everyone’s comments about Tom Cruise. I agree that this guy is a fanatic and tightly wound. Katie behaves and talks as though she has been turned into a Stepford wife. But we do indeed have the right to follow whatever religion / cult we choose. I think it’s important that we teach our children to have strong values and sense of self, so they don’t end up following crazy cults. Scientology is crazy…they don’t believe in God….they believe in E.T.’s. I would hate to see my loved one’s in another “Jim Jones” type situation.

Who said you dont have the right to criticise someone’s religion? Where did you get that nonesense from? OF COURSE you have the right to criticise someones religion. Because a ‘religion’ is simply a set of beliefs. And Nazis had beliefs! Peadeophiles have beliefs that they hold strongly! The Aztecs (or maybe it was the Mayans) ripped out the hearts of young virgins whilst they were alive. It was their religion.

If someone decides that God is actually a semelly pile of shit, and want to build a temple dedicated to the worship of smelly rancid fermenting shit in your neighbourhood, in fact right next door to your house, let’s see how tolerant you are. Or maybe just a common or garden Mosque. Hands up who wants a mosque calling the faithful to prayer at 110 decibels next to their house. 5 times a day – every day!
So in summary YES it is acceptable to criticise anothers religion.
