Scott Patterson Completes Saw V

"I’ve never seen an actor go through something like that and, not only be able to be in the trap but to do a performance and hit the things I asked him to hit. He hit it every time. We’d pull him out of it and he’d go, ‘Let’s go. Let’s go again,’ right away. He would do it all over again. I was so impressed and at the end of the day, I looked at him and he looked at me and he said, ‘Thanks, man. That was an incredible experience.’ I said, ‘Thank you. Thank you for being so brave.’ It really was an act of bravery. It was the one time, in all the Saw movies that I’ve done, that we did something that I wasn’t fully sure we were going to get."

Scott recalls this scene as truly scary, that he was shaking at the time – he says he’s never been more terrified in any scene he’s ever done. Scott Patterson acted out much of Saw V in solitary scenes, a "lone wolf" in his own words. Scott says it was a great challenge, an opportunity to "truly act" and communicate in different ways – not just with dialogue. Scott jokes in reference to Gilmore Girls:

"There was a real freedom in that. Especially coming from a television series where all anybody did was shoot their mouth off 24/7. Take ten pages to say hello. I just find it so much more powerful to tell a story with your body. I just sounded like a porn star, didn’t I?"

According to Bloody-Disgusting, three endings to Saw V were filmed. All endings will appear on the DVD, but no details are out about which will be the "official" ending.
