Scott Patterson Joining The Cast of "90210"

Here’s another Gilmore Girls alum returning to the small screen: Scott Patterson (Luke Danes on Gilmore Girls) announced last week he was joining the cast of the CW’s 90210, a reprise of the 90s classic, Beverly Hills 90210 for a recurring role.  Scott will be taking on the role of Jack,father to “badboy” Liam. Here’s TV Guide’s synopsis of Scott’s character on the series:

Jack comes to L.A. after a stint in prison, looking to earn some seed money and settle down by opening a tackle shop on the marina. It’s music to Liam’s ears, as he sees his dad’s return as an opportunity to finally get out of his stepfather’s house.

Liam is often considered to be the Dylan McKay(Luke Perry’s character)  of the new 90210. Indeed, on the original Beverly Hills 90210, Dylan also had a father who spent time in prison. Looks like the writers are borrowing a bit from their source material!

Scott isn’t the first Gilmore Girls alum to appear on 90210; Rob Estes, who played Jimmy in two episodes of season 3, is also on the cast as one of its main characters, Harry Wilson.

Scott will appear on 90210 when it returns from winter break in 2010, but there was no indication of which will be his first episode. Will you watch 90210 now that Scott is on? If you’re already a fan, are you excited to see him?
