Selena Gomez thinks that Carrie Underwood is wrong to say that celebrities shouldn’t endorse politicians.
“A lot of people do look up to certain celebrities and will follow in their footsteps,” Selena told E!Online. “I think you just have to be aware of what you’re saying.”
Selena continues, saying that she’s glad that people are getting involved with the election and that it’s been huge with the celebs. And even though she can’t vote herself, Selena has been active this election season – encouraging kids to educate themselves on the political issues.
If she were to vote today, Selena says she doesn’t know who she would choose. “I’m not really sure who I would pick to run our country,” she said. “It’s kind of nice not to be able to vote, because I may not be as ready to as I will be in the future.”

u shouldn’t endorse politicans cause u can change their way of thinking! for ex. just because u like carrie and say she likes mccain, then someone would say i like mccain even though they don’t. they just say it to be like her!

I think everybody has their own oppionion, let Selena express herself. shes 16, her oppinios are really different from the ones of an older person, Sel says she has no prob. with it, carrie says she does. WHATEVER. 2 completely different oppinions from 2 completely different persons

Selena Gomez is incorrect in her belief. If a person honestly believes that any of us old enough to vote care what a celebrity says, they are wrong. Celebrities should not voice their opinions on the election, last time I checked they are famous because they can act or sing. They are not famous for being particularly intelligent, not to say some of them aren’t. However, according to Selena, people look up to celebrities who voice their opinions, which is super unfortunate because the most out of touch people in this country are celebrities who only experience hardship in the form of the paparazzi.
I, personally, agree with Carrie Underwood, someone who is old enough to vote. I guess with age comes experience and wisdom, two things Selena lacks.

hahaha ur 1 2 talk “iluvyaniley” by ur user name u probly can’t even vote either! so tell me how is it that u are experinced???? yes I don’t agree with wat selena said about us looking up 2 celebs 4 who there voting 4 as that is nnot true but I also don’t agree with carrie either bcoz a lot of celebs jus want 2 endorse there pick 4 the prez bcoz they believe n them personally and they should hav a rite to bcoz there human jus like us!

maybe it’s not a wise oppinion because ummm.. let me think SHES A 16 YEAR OLD – A TEEN AGER WHOS LEARNING ABOUT LIFE. 16, not even old enough to vote, her oppinions oviously are completely different. and I know that “IluvyaNiley” would probably won’t change her mind about “thats stupid” because she hates Selena (I can see that b/c of her posts) just let Sel be, shes just young, young people say “”stupid”" or “”wrong”" things LOTS of times.
everyone has different oppinions, some wrong, some right, it’s all because of age differences, different beliefs(sp?) different “matureness”
Example–
maybe scarlett will say something that EVERY1ROCKS won’t agree with, and it would all be because of theyr own oppinions, their own way of thinking.
just let it go, maybe in the future, when she’s maybe 20 or 25 or older she might change her mind.

Well as someone who can vote, and did (although I am way to old to be on this website). I actually agree with Selena here. You do have to be careful of what you say especially when endorsing a candidate. But just because someone is a “celebrity” doesn’t automatically devalue what they say as a human being. And if they have a large medium to express their beliefs by all means I think they should.
Just because you like a person doesn’t mean you’ll agree with what they say but it means you’ll listen to them and take their opinion into consideration. And everyone has a right for their voice to be heard. Disagreeing with a celebrity is not the end of the world.
And I really admire people like Natalie Portman who went down to the Obama campaign office to make phone calls for a cause she believes in. At that point she is not being famous she is simply engaging in her civic duty, which is more than what I can say for a lot of average citizens.
Anyways before I read the comments I was just going to make a snarky post about how Selena would have totally voted McCain and is afraid of alienating her young base by saying so. The JoBro’s and Miley all totally would have (and Kevin and Joe prob did).

and i agree with Selena, a lot of people voted for the person their fav. celeb. did and that’s wrong and stupid. i think it’s GREAT that celebrities are getting involved but they should be careful of what they say or not say who they’re voting for.
but that’s just my opinion.
