Mark September 9th on your calendars (y’all), because that’s the day Jessica Simpson will release her new country album, Do You Know?
Jessica is certainly getting ready to make a big splash. CMT says Brett James and John Shanks produced the album, and none other than country legend Dolly Parton wrote the title track (and also sings with Jess on it.)
Jessica was quoted as saying, “Every single song is a piece of my heart … who I am,” Simpson says. “I’m not what everybody thinks that I am. Believe it or not, I’m a simple country girl … and this album will hopefully give people a sense of who Jessica is again.”
Okay, well… we had a chance to see the video for “Come on Over“, and with scenes like these:
It doesn’t look like she’s a simple country girl. It looks like she’s a pop diva strutting her goods for the camera. I think if she’d have toned down the look in some of these scenes, it would have come off a bit better. Still, it’ll be curious to see how many folks rush out to get the album. We shall see in September!

I think that is why people (guys) like Jessica, because of the sexiness she brings to her videos/album covers/anything. She doesn’t have to bare most of it to get the attention, and I think that is how she has always been. But as she gets older, I notice she is going beyond that slightly now. She is showing more skin. Although I doubt she will ever get to how Britney Spears is, in terms of how Britney dresses. It’s all about selling yourself and getting more people to “buy” you. You do what works, within reason.

MK: Yeah, you’re definitely right on that note. People (guys) like her because she’s sexy, but I keep thinking of these women who age badly. You know? And I hope Jessica isn’t going to be one of these gals that has relied on sexiness so much in her life that when her looks fade she doesn’t know how to act.
I think this video might have appealed more (to me, at least) if she had on the sexy top but didn’t sit there at the edge of the tub or in the kitchen sink, for example. Just dialing it down a small notch would have made a world of difference.
One things for sure, her record and video ARE getting the attention she needs, so whatever she’s doing is obviously working.
I just miss the sweet Jess that was beautiful but not showing her stuff everywhere! She was talented and talked about inspiring young women. Where did she go? haha
