She By Sheree At New York Fashion Week

I have to hand it to Sheree Whitfield, she really did make it work and somehow bought her dog & pony show, known as She By Sheree, to New York Fashion Week. And it looks like she got some professional advice because this time she didn’t use any models with “ashy knees” like she did at her Atlanta show (that poor girl has been slaughtered by you guys in the comments section) and managed to make some clothes that don’t look like they’re cast aways from Ross Dress 4 Less. Let’s have a look:

Once again, Sheree’s problem is that there is no cohesion here. What is the theme? Who is the She By Sheree customer? The same girl who wears a short, strapless bright yellow mini-dress is not the same girl who would go near any of the older, more convervative looks in her line. I actually like Sheree’s dress the best, and I wish she’d kept the collection in this vein: cool, stylish looking clothes for a 30 and over crowd and not the cheaper hoochie mama looks, like the snake skin bustier:

Or these wide-legged pants with a sleeveless top, which looks great and chic compared to the unflattering satin skirt and lace top. It just looks cheap and if there’s one thing we know about Sheree, it’s that she doesn’t like anything that’s cheap:

What did you think of the collection?

I will NEVER believe that anyone really thinks this is a true example of any runway show that is normally shown during NY Fashion Week! The “She by Sheree” line, got a runway show only because of Bravo TV. The show was a dismal waste of my time and her money (or somebodys money)..it was and will be the laughing stock of the industry…WHAT A MESS!

if i take each item on its own there would be SOME good pieces. but as a collection i dont get it. The silver jumpsuit made the model look very hippy and big in the thighs. It was not a good look. the corsette was a nice design but an ill fit. it was too low on the model. the blue skirt look like it came straight off the ho stroll. i give her 2 points for effort. But take 5 points for her attitude toward Lisa at the Closet Freak show. Next time come better than this Sheree.

    Well don’t forget
she has Two sides to her line, one is more urbanized and she wears her hoodies, t-shirts and sheer tops come into play and she wore her own designs, the night she showed up at Lisa’s show; the hoodie she wore with gold foiled letters and black printed letters that was her design and also on an event she did an interview with another lady wearing her own design with a qoute that she states in the housewives. And yes the silver jumpsuit piece was cute =] but I also thought the piece next to it the rhinestone corsette-like-thing was pretty cute. I think all the pieces were cute; just mixing and matching the pieces would be cute but hey, everyone has there own opinion.

One of my problems with Sheree is that she can be stylish but she doesn’t even wear her own collection. That basically says you don’t stand behind your product. But considering she doesn’t design any of the work, I guess it’s okay. The only fashionably pleasing piece is the silver jumpsuit.

Sheree always struck me (the few times I watched this Trash show) as being one of the better dressers. I would have liked her to use the “She” as an idea of impowerment and too many of these slinky, skanky dresses are neither elegant, trendsetting, OR creative.

Butterick, Simplicity and McCalls… that’s where those patterns came from.

Ok yes; I agree with you on that. They seemed forever21-ish, but I still think somethings she made can still be used or worked into different verieties of style.

I just think she should have created a look for each indivisual piece
although idk I like the whole look.
the way I can imagine a look in my head with existing pieces can work
    like tim gun would say;
    “MAKE IT WORK”.

    still a good first effort

    Hey Maria
what was your opinion about the line ?

  8. By Taylor Spears

    I didn’t say i was at Bryant park =D
she comes to NY frequently to see her Semtress I understand that
    but
    yeah and thats totaly fine

but when your not opening your own eyes and just trying to see what you think you can do better to enhance a look or peiece of clothing or what ever works. =]

I mean like the whole look to me seemed ok, but ofcoarse I’d add/tweek a few things in aswell

    thats all =]

I still think a FEW pieces came out ok

I would like to know when Maria became a fashion critic, not to defend Sheree, but i wear shorts and short dresses, and i still buy conservative pieces for work, so fashion is not one dimensional.

I believe that when you baby a project…work on a fashion line for over two straight years you better deliver. It is not rocket science. Planes and ships are built/produced at a faster rate.

Like Lisa, Sheree does not sketch. She has someone else put her ideas on to paper. Many things can get lost in translation, and if she were in fact a true designer she would check and re-check to make sure every intricate detail and hemline were constructed to perfection. She has had plenty of time to do it.

The jewelry paired with the collection was as cheap looking as some of the outfits. Not only did the line look unfinished it seemed as though Sheree showed someone her sketches and then just picked up the garmets after they were sewn. It seemed she had no hand in or even participated in the actual process of the making of the garmets themselves, and it showed.

My hat is off to her for the large amount of money wasted to put her name on this collection, if you can call it that, just to be able to refer to herself as a designer. I could see her collection at “Fashion Bug” and that’s pretty much it.

When there are so many aspiring designers in the world that are involved in every aspect of what they do and put out, Sheree’s line just comes off as an embarassment. In the last two years she could have educated herself a bit. It seems like she came up with catchee name for her line and she thought it could carry it through. NOT.

I’m just totally speechless. I was really looking forward to seeing some fabulous pieces by Sheree. Oh Well!

Reviewing the statement that affect her choice of fabrics and theme of her fashion line/show in a negative way, I hope you take my comment into consideration. As a design/apparel/styling student of the Art Institute, designing a fashion line can be really intence dealing with so many levels of the art of targeting an addudience. For instence, some pieces can be easly change from being a dress to an urbanized tunic belted around the waist and leggins or tights undernieth, just showing verciltility with pieces. Mixing and matching with other brands and accessories to enhance the look makes a statement. Maybe Sheree’s goal was to make chic pieces that you can tie into any kind of fashion. Sheree although to me doesn’t have the education in fashion as I thought but; she’s a lady who knows what she wants. Sheree Featured in her line apparel pieces that were more “body complemmentry” if you understand the brief statement I made but the point is she missed out a few feature like a jacket there and some leggins here. I love Sheree and I think her line was amazing for a first try. Unlike some people that can’t see past the whole one look and not imagining how they can add in on there sort of signature to style a piece shows the taste you have mean while we do it every single day. I don’t think the look she was going for was cheap looking. Although Sheree does need to study her choice of fabrics and details and the whole gammit of trend setting a look.
Although I loved the fashion show =D. And keep up the good work SHEREE

    Your fan

These outfits all look like rejects from the Chadwicks Catalog. This crap is not runway worthy. There is nothing cohesive about her line. The materials looks cheap, the bustier is not fitted right and slides down from the breast area. They look poorly sewn and on the yellow dress the hemline and neckline look unfinished and thrown together. I have no words for the black lace outfits. The one with the black lace/blue skirt would look good on any of the girls from Hooker on The Point. Beyond embarrasing. Sheree go back to being a housewife, that seem to be where your qualifications are.

I think Bravo had something to do with this! Andy Cohen always tries to talk up she by sheree to everyone on his talk show. Maybe he is Sheree’s investor? I’m amazed she was able to get a show on the schedule! I could’ve gone but unless you’re Marc Jacobs, no way I’m going anywhere at 10 on a Sunday! ;)

no no no.lol. Mandees at best. I think she should stick to what she does best.lmao. She knows what that is.lmao. I think they look cheap and do not fit well.
