Shelly Cole in “The Village Barbershop”

The Village BarbershopShelly Cole (Madeline Lynn on Gilmore Girls) stars in the movie The Village Barbershop, which will be released on DVD on March 3, 2009. The movie will be playing in select theaters in the US, with a full listing available here.

The Village Barbershop, which won the Best Feature award at Cinquest 2008, stars John Ratzenberger as Art Leroldi, a widowed and fading Reno barber stuck in a rut of cutting hair and reading books about horses. When his barbershop partner dies, Art must face closing the barbershop or hiring the last person he’d ever want there – a woman. And that woman, Gloria MacIntyre, a broke, spit-fire young woman played by Shelly Cole. Gloria won’t take ‘No’ for an answer, and the story is about to unlikely people who meet in one unlikely place – the Village Barbershop.

This poignant comedy from Writer/Director/Producer Chris Ford tells the humorous, sweet story of a fading old man who has lost his way and a determined young woman looking to find hers. Be sure to watch the trailer below and pre-order your DVD here!

Shelly Cole was always so good as Madeline – but this movie looks even better than her Gilmore Girls role. I’ll have to check it out – the clips look awesome. Way to go, Shelly!
