And here we go again! Shonda Rhimes has spoken up about the rumors circulating that Katherine Heigl and T.R. Knight are both exiting the series at the end of the season.
At the NAACP Awards she said, “That was a very interesting rumor. And it’s not true.” Adding, “You know I don’t like to tell you what’s going to happen on the show, but that is a rumor.”
Even James Pickens Jr. who was quoted as confirming Heigl’s exit from the show backtracked his earlier comment, saying, “We’ve been living with these rumors for a long time. When the question was posed to me, I was more trying to congratulate Katie and T.R. on whatever they were going to do. But yeah, I don’t have any special info about it either way.”
So it looks like we’re back to where we were before with The Powers That Be trying to squash rumors and deny any departures.
Rumors, however, are rumors for a reason. So it’s entirely possible that one of them – if not both – is headed out of the show. George’s storyline is said to be picking up, so perhaps T.R. Knight has changed his mind about ending his contract.
The only thing we know for sure is that we don’t know anything for sure.
No doubt, rumors will continue to spring up one way or the other before we get an official confirmation.
For now, at least we can keep the hope alive that either – or both – of the actors will remain with the series.

oh look another lie from Shonda…. shock. I don’t believe a word that comes out of her mouth any more it is all nice semantic games she plays to build interest because the writing is so bad. although I will say the writing has improved a bit over the past couple of episodes
I wonder why mdb is watching Greys if the writing is so bad. I for one watch it and never miss an episode because I love the writing, the twists and turns. Sometimes I get a little anxious waiting for things to happen, especially with Merideth and Derek but that is what keeps us tuning in, isn’t it? Pretty good writing I would say.
I watch for Sara Ramirez and that is it. Generally I fast forward through the show to her scenes. I guess I keep hoping that the writers will find they way again and start writing good stories. As I said it has improved but not by much. I started watching the show when Sara Ramirez joined the cast and she is the only reason I watch.
