Well, it looks like Shonda has finally stepped up and decided to talk about her feelings regarding Katherine Heigl’s Emmy comments. A lot of rumors have flown out of the Grey’s Anatomy world since Heigl backed out of the Emmys and the most recent and worrisome one was the one involving the potential death of Izzie Stevens.
Well, as I mentioned yesterday, the ABC president made a public statement on behalf of Grey’s Anatomy and Katherine Heigl, assuring us that Izzie wasn’t going anywhere and that she would have a great storyline in season five.
Today, Shonda Rhimes took the microphone to inform viewers that she didn’t feel insulted by Heigl’s comments. “I didn’t feel insulted,” Rhimes told reporters. “When I was told [what Heigl said] I found it surprising. I love and respect Katie as an actress. But she is outspoken.”
I’m sure there’s a vast difference between what one feels and what one tells others that they feel. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if Rhimes was insulted, or at the very least hurt by the comments, but it looks like they’re trying to calm the waters and put our Izzie-Might-Die fears to rest.
So it looks like good news: no death for Izzie. Let’s hope Katherine Heigl isn’t too disappointed! Looking forward to a great season five with all hands on board.
