I agree with the person who believes it may be a life saving alternative for a woman and child in Africa or a third world country lacking in the abundance of food we have here to breast feed her child. I also believe that breast feeding here is wonderful from age 0 to perhaps 2yrs of age. But breast feeding a child who is over two and especially eight yrs. or over is not for the child as much as it must be a sexually gratifying experience for the mother. Psychologically, I believe this type of behavior could very well impair a child’s sexuality by sending distorted messages regarding what’s decent and what’s not. Will they expect their first date to disrobe and allow them to fondle their breast believing it’s a natural socially? I’m quite sure, that children who are forced in to this behavior at this age do not broadcast it to their friends or peers. Most would be ashamed because in their little hearts they know it’s wrong. Mom needs theraphy ASAP.
This is disgusting! I don’t believe that any child even if they are self weened would go eight years breastfeeding without encouragement from the mother. They both have issues! As for the comment about women in Africa breastfeeding that long— Maybe that’s because they don’t have an adequate amount of food for proper nutrition. Don’t you think they wish they had plenty of food like we do?! Don’t you think the women in Africa would rather give their children an abundance of fruits and veggies rather than nurse for that long?!! I would say that a woman in a 3rd world country has valid reasons for doing it, other than that, it’s just disturbing. Plus, the little girl is quite chunky she must get plenty of food! now i firmly believe in breast feeding. i have 2 sons my eldest bf until he was 1 and a 1/2 and my youngest not as long. for me it was not pleasurable it was just the right thing to do. never in a million years though would i continue after a year and a half it is disgusting it is not natural. dogs only nurse their pups for 8-10 weeks before they kick them off the tit. cats take less time. so if primal animals dont do it for long periods of time humans should not either. everybody has a difference in opinion on how long but when the child can speak maybe its time to stop. especially when they are so attached that they talk about the breast like its candy or something. in my opinion its time for this lady to cut the last of the cord and find a good therapist.
I was a volunteer in a Battered Women’s Shelter and one of the women there had a baby of 2 years old. She was breastfeeding the baby. She also had a fourteen year old son who wore braces. One day, she pulled up her shirt and started breastfeeding the fourteen year old boy in front of me. I tried to pretend like I didn’t see it, because I really didn’t know how to react.
It was so odd. She told me that she was a member of a breastfeeding society and that it was a very natural thing. At one point when I looked over at them, the son was feeling her other breast and squirming around like he was ejaculating.
I ran out of the room. It made me really sick.
