Crushable 25: Sidney Crosby, Beautiful Baby Face, Head Wound Victim

January 1, 2011 was a tragic moment for the Pittsburgh Penguins. Not only because their top scorer was taken off the ice due to a concussion, but also because the main purpose of the rest of the team completely failed.

I watched HBO’s 24/7 Penguins-Capitals: The Road To The Playoffs. And aside from the jarring reality that professional hockey players have even fewer teeth than I realized, I’m pretty sure the point of the series was to prove that everyone on the Penguins team was designed to protect Sidney’s pretty face. This man is so pretty that his face must be protected from injury by his teammates at all costs. But apparently they didn’t do too well.

Because he got sidelined twice, and kicked into a concussion. And right before he got hit, his 25-game point streak was the most impressive stretch of scoring a hockey player has had in the last decade (so I’m told).

It’s been over three months since the NHL’s top scoring pretty boy has been on the ice for a game.

And while he’s supposed to be up and playing again this week, he might just as easily stay off the ice. He’s already considered the best hockey player in the league. And considering he’s only 23, he could just get out now and start his full-time endorsement career now. The world could always use another well-known underwear model…
