Signed Miley Cyrus Guitar to Benefit American Cancer Society

hannah-montana-season-2-promo-pictures.jpgHow much would you like a guitar signed by Hannah Montana star Miley Cyrus? Well, the bidding has begun and wraps us December 21st. The cool thing is that the proceeds go to the American Cancer Society.

Some Hannah Montana fan will likely have a very merry Christmas this year.

A guitar signed by Miley Cyrus, the 15-year-old actress-singer who plays the pop superstar on the hit Disney Channel TV series, is being auctioned to benefit the American Cancer Society.

The bidding began Friday morning through the Quad-City Times Web site, qctimes.com/miley. As of mid-Friday afternoon, the high bid was $1,000, said Staci Molony-Klimek, the Times circulation and marketing director.

Kim Hatfield, the community relations director of the American Cancer Society’s Midwest Division, said the guitar was purchased by Howard Cornfield, former general manager of the Quad-City Mallards.

It was signed by Cyrus prior to her sold-out concert Oct. 20 at the i wireless Center, Moline.

The original intention was to auction the guitar off at the Cancer Society’s annual Daffodil Gala on March 1.

“We decided that instead of waiting until the night of our auction on March 1st that this would make a great Christmas present for someone,” Hatfield said.

Bidding continues through noon Friday, Dec. 21. Bidding began at $500 and has increased in increments of $100.
