Tonight, So You Think You Can Dance had to let two more dancers leave the competition. But before the eliminated pair were announced, several interesting things happened. First, Nigel Lythgoe gave a very touching talk to all the dancers about the fact that they will all have to learn to face rejection in the dance industry. He told them to let it motivate them, not discourage them.
And then he made an amazing announcement. Last night, over 11 million votes were cast. And each one of the dancers recieved over 1 million votes. That means that these dancers have touched a chord with America and forever more they will be known to those of us who love the show. It’s true. I imagine that most of you are like me, and you remember your favorite and least favorite dancers from each of the past four seasons. I think it’s wonderful that dance is finally getting the respect and adulation it deserves. Bravo!
Then guest judge Adam Shankman announced that he was going to give the winner of this season a feature dance part in the new movie he’s making. (Remember, he was the director/choreographer for last summer’s blockbuster Hairspray.)
But unfortunately, then two of the dancers had to go and we found out that it was Chelsie & Mark. At this point in the competition, it’s so hard to say anything about any of the dancers going home. They all had to be incredible dancers to make it this far. I’m just glad I didn’t hae to make the choice. (Except for Twitch, he’s my personal favorite this season…)
So, I congratulate both Chelsie & Mark for their amazing performences on the show…all of them. And I simply can’t wait to see the tour when it comes near me. What a great season this is!!
Reality TV, TV, Television, so you think you can dance, SYTYCD, Cat Deeley

This goes out to all you Americans who voted Chelsie off!! You have got to be kidding me!! She was by far the best dancer SYTYCD has ever seen!!! Shes only 19 and can dance better then any of those girls on set. You guys are ridiculous!! Get your head on straight!! MORONS!
Chelsie should not have gone.
she was the best one there and the judges made that clear many times. Courtney should have gone home. She really didn’t stand out to me.
IMDB shows that Adam Shankman is attached to the following upcoming movies:
Director:
Topper (2010) (in production) (attached)
Steve Martin attached to play Cosmo Topper, an up-tight estate liquidator who’s hired to sell off the estate of George and Mimi Kirby, a recently-deceased wealthy young socialite couple who have no intention of letting their ghostly forms stop them from partying…
Bedtime Stories (2008) (post-production)
A family comedy about a hotel handyman (Adam Sandler) whose life changes when the lavish bedtime stories he tells his niece and nephew start to magically come true. |
Producer:
Seventeen Again (2009) (completed) (producer)
About a guy whose life didn’t quite turn out how he wanted it to and wishes he could go back to high school and change it. He wakes up one day and is seventeen again and gets the chance to rewrite his life.
I wonder which movie he was talking about or could it be a project not yet identified?
I was as shocked by the results as most people, I’d imagine. I have been rooting for Chelsie and Mark since day one, so it was a double-whammy to see them both go in the same night. At this stage in the game, the remaining dancers are all so talented it was extremely difficult to cut anyone, but the vote had come down to a popularity contest rather than a true gauge of talent. Really, I would prefer the elimination be determined by a panel of professional judges rather than leaving it in the hands of the TV-viewing public.
I am greatly saddened by the elimination of Mark and particularly Chelsie. While I admit the remaining dancers are all extremely talented, the show has somehow lost a bit of its magic for me.
OMG! i cried when CHELS got kicked off i was so mad!!!!!!
i’m happy chelsie is gone. i personally think her solos were terrible.. she did the same move every week. it would have been nice to see something different. she also picked popular songs that had nothing to do with her style of dance. in my opinion, the dance choice was just to appeal to viewers because the dancing was nothing new.
i really like courtney, but i’d like to see katee win
