Hopefully by now most of us have managed to put down the tissue box and head outside to feel the sun, smell the flowers, and appreciate life. But of course the questions in the back of our minds return from time to time: Will Izzie die? Will George die? Will they both die?
I’ve been following the disccusion thread closely (lots of great comments in there!) and keeping track of what everyone’s thoughts are on the finale. My own thoughts on the subject boil down to: I think at least one of them survives. And I think that someone is Izzie. I’ll explain why I think this in a different post. But for now, there’s a bit more on the finale and What Comes Next from the Goddess herself: Shonda Rhimes.
I’m going to go ahead and quote her completely so you get the full effect:
“We will definitely answer those questions in the fall,” says creator Shonda Rhimes. “As with anyone you come to love, you don’t want to see them die, but it’s all part of the circle of life.” Still, she allows, “there are some top-notch doctors at Seattle Grace and although there may not be miracles, there could be some good medicine.” And the Season 5 finale did have a bright side: Christina and Hunt are on again, Callie and Arizona are forging a deeper girlfriend-ship, and Der and Mer had a Post-It note wedding. “I wanted you to feel happy for some people,” says Rhimes, noting that “Meredith, our dark and twisty girl, is whole and healed.”
“There could be some good medicine,” sounds somewhat hopeful to me. No miracles, but some good medicine. Reading between the lines, I’m only more convinced that at least one of them survives. I’m inclined to believe that only one of them survives.

I think that Izzie will survive, too. I really like George, though. I hope T.R. Knight doesn’t have other plans causing him to get killed off of the show.
I guess Katherine Heigl wanted something Emmy-worthy and now she got it!
I think that george’s character will survive but TR Night will not, after all Seattle Grace has one of the top plastic surgeons on staff. I think Izzie’s cancer was too far gone – hence no miracles

Much earlier this season, I read Shonda as saying that the Izzi storyline (which hadn’t yet been revealed as cancer) was a story she’d been kicking around in her head for a long time. So unless she’s been intending to kill KH’s character off for a while I am pretty sure that Izzi is still with us. I have no idea what to think of George’s status, though.
I think one of them will live, and I think it’s Izzie. I’m praying it’s Izzie. See, she was wondering if she would get off the elevator or not. George was already there waiting for her.
If she dies, Alex will be broken beyond repair.
You bring up a good point Tamsin! I think Izzie will pull through this with some kind of miracle leaving George to be the one who passes.
My thinking on the whole thing is that Izzie pulls George back into the lift with her because of the way they was looking at each other, but i think George will be no longer played by TR Knight, i don’t think that would be George’s last series because he wasn’t really in it enough to leave.

You’re not going to get the results that you want. There’s no difference between:
· Izzie dies, George lives.
· George lives, Izzie dies.
Also, this option was omitted:
· Izzie lives, George’s character survives.
I think its Izzie, why wud Denny say that he is there for her?. We all thought he appeared becoz she cudnt get ova his death, maybe he was her angel of death. Its wil make sense that way.
I definitely think Izzie survives cause she was in the elevator and the look on her face was more like “I am not going with you, George”
And George is already in “heaven”. So think that Izzie will survive and the end of George O’Malley has come…….what is actually really sad cause I like George a lot.

ALSO THE FACT THAT THE DOCTORS RESCINDED THE DNR ORDER AND RESUCITATED HER IS SIGNIFICANT.I THINK IZZY WILL LIVE AND GEORGE WILL DIE.
