Let’s discuss this upcoming wedding between Sonny and Kate. What the show wants us to believe and some of the fans are clamoring for is that Sonny and Kate have a history. When they were still kids in Bensonhurst New York. They were going to get married blah blah. But Connie had ambition and wanted to be someone else. Someone who she is now. Kate Howard, the creme de la cream of fashion. Except Megan Ward should speak up about what the wardrobe department has been putting her in. Her clothes are bordering on Joan Collins, circa Dynasty. Not too fashionable to me. The show wants us to believe that she is the woman that Sonny has always loved. You know, that’s fine and dandy. I couldn’t care less.

The way they’re dismissing everything that Sonny has been through with other women is condescending and downright disrespectful. What he and Kate had when they were young was special, fine. I call it puppy love. Sure it could be true love. But Kate wasn’t there in between. She wasn’t there to handle Sonny’s complicated life. Her life has never truly been in danger because of Sonny. Kate wasn’t around during his bi-polar days. Explosions, mob threats, depression, not to mention getting shot while you’re pushing his baby, from a dungeon, because his psychotic brother kidnapped you.
As much as what Sonny and Carly have is a little disastrous to say the least, they have a connection and a bond. No matter how much Kate tries to ignore it, Sonny and Carly have children, Michael and Morgan. Whatever connection Sonny and Kate had when they were young, that’s nothing compare to what Sonny and Carly have. Once 2 people, in real world anyway, brought kids into this world, they will have a bond for life. Not to mention, Carly had gone to hell and back for Sonny.
They can twist and turn things and make it seem like the Sonny and Kate love story is one sweet day but they can’t erase all the years that Sonny spent with different woman and on top of that list is Carly whom we all know would turn the world upside down if it means saving Sonny from an incoming bullet.
Now the wedding….. Gisselle who is supposedly Kate’s Maid Of Honor will be stuck in Paris. Kate will ask Clarice who then gets food poisoning. Here comes Cousin Olivia. Sonny’s surprise to Kate. But of course in the case of soap opera weddings, all’s well won’t end well. Kate get’s shot. Now who shot her? Hmm I don’t know, Karpov? Don’t forget Anthony Zacchara.
To build up this torturous and “amazing” love story between Sonny and Kate, the show has written a “get shot during the wedding” storyline. That should seal whatever history between them, I suppose. True to GH’s form, you can never really be Sonny’s true love until you’re on the verge of death, at your wedding no less, caused by Sonny’s Mob-enemies even though technically he’s out of the business.. Uh huh.
I agree- I never really bought into this Kate/ Connie and Sonny thing. It doesn’t ring true. Sonny has never pretended to be anything other than what he is – a mobster. All Kate ever does is pretend to be something she is not – if she is purposefully trying to forget that part of herself WHY would she agree to marry the so called “LOVE” of her old Bensenhurst life??? Wouldn’t everybody figure out whe she really is???
Personally I would love to see Sonny hook up with Olivia(again) after his son is revealed of course.
