South Beach Lawsuit Thrown Out of Court

More good news for Jennifer Lopez. A judge has thrown out a lawsuit stemming from her South Beach series because there just wasn’t enough evidence to take it to court.

ABC7Chicago says “The writer claimed that their show was too similar to a plot he described in 1999 for a pilot that was called “South Beach Miami.
The judge noted that the writer admitted his scripts included generic ideas and commonplace elements of the South Beach, Miami club and modeling scene.”

What, you say? Never heard of South Beach? It didn’t get very far. It went for about a season, and despite having beauty and hot women and culture, it just never took off. Here’s a quick clip:

Want more? Here’s a description from the Internet Movie Database (IMDB):

After his own, gambling father squandered his college savings, New York good guy Matt Evans moves to the fancy resort Southbeach in Florida, where his former girlfriend Arielle Casta is trying to make it as a model, and gets a challenging job in Elizabeth Bauer’s hot night club-hotel as security officer and general right hand, making her son Alex terribly jealous. He is followed by his best mate Vincent ‘Vince’, an incorrigible flirt who keeps flirting with disloyalty as well, even after he gets employed as bodyguard by the honorable gangster Robert Fuentes, who attracts danger for both friends.

Jennifer was the executive producer for the series.

Despite the fact that this series didn’t take off, I can totally see Jen doing another. She’s got a lot of great ideas and great history to pull from. Perhaps when things settle down in her personal life?
