Speculation continues about Brad Pitt and "The Lost City of Z"

There’s been a lot of discussion about Brad Pitt’s bushy beard lately. Some people think it looks great, some people aren’t keen on it but still think he looks just fine, and a lot of people flat-out hate it. I fall into the middle category; I’m not crazy about his beard but I don’t think it changes the fact that he’s a seriously good-looking man.

Some of the speculation, though, has been that maybe he’s growing his beard out in order to play the role of explorer Percy Fawcett in the movie we’ve been waiting on for quite some time now, The Lost City of Z. It’s starting to pop up more and more online as well as people wait and wonder.

This article seems to think it’s pretty likely and the photo of Fawcett (the same one that a PittWatch reader posted in the comments awhile ago) is compelling reasoning. It certainly looks like it’s what Brad is going for with his growing beard.

There’s been pretty much no news whatsoever on the fate of Moneyball lately and both Brad and Angelina have clear schedules for the next little while. This would be a good time to start shooting The Lost City of Z. I’ve been eager to hear more information about it, so this would make me very happy if there is indeed truth to the possibility of filming coming up soon.

Meanwhile, another article made me laugh by describing Brad’s beard like this: “Now Brad Pitt will get to walk around with an odd goatee and prove just how desirable he is by pulling it off.” Isn’t that true?! I mean seriously – bushy yes, but still hot:

Imagine how much fun it would be for the kids to head down to the Amazon while Brad film The Lost City of Z?

What do you think? In your opinion is Brad just growing a bushy beard simply because he can and feels like it, or do you think it might be so he can play Percy Fawcett?

Kim- whoa! There is nothing wrong with people having an opinion on celebrities clothes, hair color, facial hair, etc. Geez we even criticize their weight and religion! Its entertainment! Nobody here really ‘cares’. Its just a point of discussion for people bored sitting at their desks or whatever. What we really care about are our families, jobs, money, politics, war, and yes, the world. But should we ALWAYS talk about those things. No. Relax. We all care about the same things you do and you shouldnt feel ashamed that you are interested in celebrity gossip.

Kim, I think for many people the entertainment world is like any other distraction from the serious side of life. It’s really no different from watching TV shows, movies, reading a book, or any other hobby. I don’t think that it needs to be all or nothing though. I still watch the news every morning and try to watch it at night if I’m not too tired. I read CNN and my local news sites as well as my local paper online. I think you can still be well informed about the news and the various forms of crises around the world and still allow yourself to enjoy reading about your favorite celebrities.

Sometimes I do feel a little silly, watching victims of the tsunami try to move on or even learning about a local woman gone missing, only to turn around and write, “hey! What do you think of Brad’s beard?!” But this site is a celebrity site and posts about world news don’t fit here (though I do love that we can talk about these things in the comments, especially since so many PittWatch readers are from all around the world, not just North America). However, I do feel better knowing that I can also write about the great things Brad and Angie do, like promoting the plight of refugees and rebuilding New Orleans.

Wait for my next post, coming up shortly – it will make you feel better since it’s a genuine story about helping out less fortunate people. :)

Wrote a great post and it got deleted power went out, so I’ll try again.
What set me off today had nothing to do with the Pitt’s sorry to say. I love this site (but I was spending to much time here, interfering in work) I love the posts here mostly very interesting. What set me off today was the head line news on CNN and CTV and front page news in the news paper. Do you know what it was? It was nothing important enough to make this placement. It was David Letterman’s personal life. WHAT!!!!!!! I love checking in with my favorite Celebs here and in People, but when I turn on the news to find out about world events I don’t want to hear about Celebs, keep them in the entertainment section. Thank you for allowing my monthly rant. My friends and family don’t understand and make fun of my interest in celebs, so you guys are the only ones who might understand. Thank you

Kim – I completely agree with you on that one. Unless it’s awards time or it’s somehow related to world events, celebrities shouldn’t be on the front page news section.

Wow-think that this one went onto a different thread.

In order-Love, love Brad no matter how he tries to ugly himself up for whatever the reasons, maybe work (which he has been known to do) or personal. It simply doesn’t matter to me, love this man in what ever he chooses to do.

Secondly-I most definitely agree with the headline issue about David Letterman, mostly because I really can not stand him, he gives me the hebbe-gebbes (sp)? It seriously does not warrant a headline of any publication! But as far as the giving of too much of our time to following people like the Brad Pitt’s and Angeling Jolie’s of the world, that simply can’t happen LOL! I happen to think that this site is rather informative, user friendly and dedicated to not just their movies or bodies of work, but their children and not to mention their many, many charties. Therefore, here I don’t waste time stifting through garbage to find the truth! I value and enjoy the opinions of Sherry and the followers who fequent this site. I don’t alway comment but I’m forever stopping by to check up on our favourite family. Keep up the good work Sherry. Goodness! You do this on your spare time?

I am a huge fan of Brad and Angie and have been visiting this site for a long time.

So: not your typical angie and brad hater.

However, I don’t like the beard on Brad. I think it really takes away from his good looks. He went from being a really attractive man to looking kind of goofy and not particularly attractive.

He is aging so there is only so much he can do. But perhaps he could trim the beard ? It’s so …. in your face.

Kari- Don’t worry. Disliking Brad’s beard certainly does not make you a h8ter. :) It’s okay to be a fan and still dislike some things a person/couple/group does. :)
