All that aside, he clearly has the looks to make it in Hollywood, with the tall, dark and handsome Kennedy look that seems to be an evergreen audience getter. Lonestar could have positioned him as this year's Jon Hamm, who went from a mostly unheard of AMC star three years to everyone's favorite heartthrob (and movie lead possibility) this year.
He's still got plenty of time to capture audiences' attention, but unless casting directors were paying close attention to the first few weeks of Lone Star, it might be awhile before James gets more coveted leading roles.
In You Again, James played Kristin Bell's brother, who is engaged to marry her high school nemesis, played by Odette Yustman (seen here).
It wasn't a particularly meaty or interesting role, but it gave him enough screentime to catch people's attention. However, even in that movie, he is credited only as "Jimmy Wolk."
Clearly, Lone Star was Wolk's big move. But the show, which cast him as a con man living a double life, didn't have good ratings for its premiere. And the . FOX wasn't willing to give the show anymore time. Last night it became the first show of the season to get the ax.
And before this year, James was doing much less exciting things...
He had some walk on parts, like his stint as "sailor" on As The World Turns." His biggest role before this year appears to be a turn as Brad Cohen in the Hallmark movie Front of the Class. He starred against Patricia Heaton in that one, but odds are he's not looking to go back to that newsboy cap anytime soon.
Before that, he was in a short called 8 Easy Steps where his character was named concisely: HotNRich.

At 25, he's still got plenty of time to beef up his resume. And for good measure: this pic is a taste of what's likely to give him some staying power in Hollywood, despite this week's early cancellation.

James Wolk is a handsome, charming actor with a bright future. I’m sure he’s devastated about Lone Star but only a select few become stars overnight and even they have hiccups along the way. Now more people know who he is and he has something on his actor’s reel besides Front of the Class. I’m sure he’s auditioning as I write this and will have something on the horizon very soon. I just hope it’s a project worthy of his talent.
this is so unfortunate–not only for james –but for us, at least me.
I didnt get a chance to see all of the new shows but from what I did
see the only one I had any real interest in was Lone Star.
How stupid it is to cut it off before it had a chance to develop a following which I am sure they would have done as the audiences winnowed out the shows that they may have watched , like me, trying to find the right one.
You neglected to mention that he’s a University of Michigan alum, which is always good for a few Hunk Points on the Stalk Exchange.
Ha. Very true. He even convinced the director of You Again to let him wear a Michigan Tshirt in the movie. That takes dedication.
