Why would a pretty teenage girl from an A-List Hollywood family go out on her own and release a raunchy sex tape? Montana Fishburne, 19, says she’s doing it to break out on her own and try to make a name for herself in Hollywood. Of course, her father Laurence Fishburne is unhappy about the situation.
Celebrity psychologist Dr. Gilda Carle told us that Montana’s actions are likely an act of defiance against her father. “She knows how her father would feel. It appears that she may be very angry at him,” she said. So, is Montana simply undergoing a “rebellious teen phase” or does she truly see this as way to angle herself for a place in the spotlight?
On one hand, says Dr. Gilda, “It’s admirable for a young woman who is in a famous family to say, ‘I want to make it on my own. However, when she does it in an X-Rated she knows the consequences.” After all, there isn’t much by the way of respect in Hollywood when it comes to sex tape debuts, is there? “She thinks she’s going to use this an entré into becoming famous. But she is really using this as an entre into becoming infamous.”
Montana explained that her motivation for making the video was to mimic the quick rise of a star like Kim Kardashian after releasing a sex tape. It’s important to consider, however, that Montana is in a situation that’s quite different from Kim’s. “Kim has a family that supports her no matter what she does,” Dr. Gilda explained. Montana, obviously, doesn’t have that support, at least at the moment.
Moreover, Dr. Gilda argued that the “copycat method” doesn’t work. “I have never seen copycats make it the way the originals have. Look at all the wannabes – nobody makes it like the originals.” If Montana is set on fame, “Her best bet would be to carve out her own talent and go with them and not try to mirror others’ success.”
If she wants to achieve fame and success, Montana will probably want to make amends with her father and the rest of her family, but she’ll have to act mature in order to do so. “They cant make amends unless both parties are willing to,” Dr. Gilda explained.
It’s unclear at this point if Montana will make a turnaround, or will keep rebelling for attention and hopes of fame. “At 19, she may not fully understand the consequences. The brain doesn’t fully mature to understand consequences until the age of about 25.”
