I don’t understand how this could have happened unless she did it herself. Stephanie Meyer, the author of the Twilight series and probably the only author who has come close to one smidgin of JK Rowling’s success, is upset after a first draft of her next book “Midnight Sun” was leaked online (you can read it here: Midnight Sun Leak).
Understandably, she is upset. This whole thing sort of reminds me of the whole Harry Potter Lexicon trial, with obviously major differences, but still a bit similar. What do you think about leaked rough drafts, fanmade books, etc. in general?
That’s her falut! She should have tooken good care of her books and also being careful who she gives it too!
PLus, that should be her punishment for talking about HP!
I think it’s horrible that Midnight Sun was leaked. Deandra, it’s incredibly rude to blame her, when this happens to a lot of authors and it isn’t her fault. Was it JKR’s fault when part of Deathly Hallows was leaked? Yeah, I didn’t think so. Stop hating of Stephenie.
People who leak are jerks. It’s not their work to give to the world, and I feel really bad for Stephenie. An author’s work is very personal, so when someone puts it out for the whole world to see, unrevised, it’s like putting someone’s diary out. So yeah. Those are my views.

i heard the rumors about it being leaked online. at first, i didnt believe it but i got the links through email by my friend. totally cant believe that some hacker will ruin it! ugh! come on! how can you guys people think its always the authors fault for not keeping it safe?? i mean i leave my stuffs everywhere in my home. i bet she did the same thing, trusting her surrounding. never expect someone to do that. i mean, i had someone stole my money from my wallet and it was in my home!! so i totally unds why shes so uspet over that.
(i have one question: is she still gonna finish Midnight Sun? I mean, I will totally buy the book regardless what just happen here! let me know!)
I agree with hermioneg247.. our own words are personal.. and yea.. what happened to Meyer is like letting someone see her diary. I really hope we could still read Midnight Sun. Hope she would finish it and not let her fans down.. Everyone is waiting for it.
i just cant stand the fact that she’s withholding the book! I MEAN come on!I think shes over-reacting just a little bit, she says that she more than likely knows who the rat was so find them, fine them and write midnight sun….fans will get fed up with waiting (indefinatly) and i personally will refuse to buy it if she lets this little leak phase her that much. so she fell off her horse-she needs to get up brush her self off and tame that steed.!.
Give Stephenie a break!!!!!!!! shes an amazing writer. i read all four books (twilight, new moon, eclipse, and breaking dawn) in 9 days 2 days every book, except eclipse was 3 days. they were amazing even though Harry Potter is better. try reading something new. if you like love stories and happy endings read Twilight. She has to finish it!!! I don’t care if it would take a lifetime to finish it, I’d wait for it then. When I read about the leak, I didn’t dare touch the part with the draft of the fifth book. To be a loyal and understandable reader and admirer to Stephanie I will NOT view the draft. I beg of her to continue the story, and like I said, I don’t care if it takes eternity. I don’t believe authors would give up just for a draft posted on the internet. I’d break the computers around the world if I have to (for her and others’ sakes). As long as she is willing to NOT give up, I, and many others I hope, will be right by her side (literally) and encourage her to continue Midnight Sun. Who’s with me on this? *raises one eyebrow*

She is still doing midnight sun. she said she would finish it even after it was leaked. She just doesn’t know how long its going to take. I don’t mind, I’m just happy she’s still going to do it. And I do to feel terribly sad that her book got leaked.
oh i got this information on her website, right after she wrote that she was angry that her book got leaked.
it really sucks that someone who stephenie trusted to give a draft, leaked midnight sun’s 12 chapters on line.on her website she says she knows who it is and that she is still going to publish it,but that it’s going to take some time.it’s going to be hard waiting for the completed published edition, but it’s the right thing to do.i sympathize with stephinie and hope she isn’t sad for long.

She probably did it herself just so that all her fans can be got all excited about it then when it comes out everyone will buy it and she will have her career egnited for the second time…very selfish towards her REAL fans the ones that wait for the book to come out and buy it from the shop and even wait at book signings. She knows exactly what she is doing.

I do hope that Stephenie releases Midnight Sun, at her own pace of course. She is an amazing writer, and her Twilight Series definitely turned many heads. I just hope she is not too distraught and that she comes out of this experience with her head held high. As for those of you who disrespect people, you need to learn to grow up and see the situation for the tragedy that is it to Stephenie. On that note, I am out.

First, thank you Stephanie Meyer for creating this world, I have disappeared into the world since I was young, flashlight under the covers and reading into all hours. This has been my all time favorite series of books ever!
Second, please continue the Midnight Sun book, why not make it the Midnight Sun series, I loved finding out how Edward was thinking and reacting, great idea!!
Third, Stephen King is behaving like a jealous child. He needs to get over the fact that people love these stories, he makes himself look bad and a has been speaking out like this!

I love Vampires and The Twilight Series. I can not wait until November 09 for New Moon to come to the big screen. It would be nice to finally meet the cast in person. Ever coming to Metro Detroit, MI in the near future?
I really love these books. It’s horrible someone so selfish could do something like that. I hope she doesn’t stop writing Morning Sun. That would be awful. I need these books more than Bella needs Edward. I’m addicted to the Twilight saga and I know there are alot of other crazy fans too. I’m not going to read the draft even if it is on her site. If she continues, I’m going to wait for it. Nobody has the right to do something like that and whoever does should have a very big punishment. She can’t ever stop writing because I would have to stop reading. Nothing I ever read will be as good as this to me.

I can totally understand that she’s so upset that she doesn’t feel she can continue writing Midnight Sun. Even if they meant no harm i cannot believe one of her friends, someone she trusted, did this. I wish she would finish writing it because the Twilight series is an amazing set of books and i feel Edwards perspective, even if only covering the first book, is so much better than Bella’s and makes him even more amazing (is that’s possible!). Stephanies books took me into the wonderful world of vampires =) and made me kind of depressed when it was over. I literally couldnt put the books down, first time i read them it took me 5 days, second time it took me two, and i missed my sleep =P. Did anyone else feel like if they put one of the books down it was carrying on with out them?
I love her books, and i’m buying The Host in a few days and hope that’s as good =)

I whileee ago I was watching the previews to this movie while at another movie and was mildly interested at the vampire thing and seemingly intriguing cast. While the movie blew up and my little 14 year old sister became obsessed with the books she literally begged me to start reading Twilight being the avid reader I am. I finished Twilight and New Moon in one night each then sped to the book store to buy Eclipse and New Moon. I read both in one day (I’m a beast-reader I know hah). I am not embarrassed to say that I am completely and totally obsessed with this series and I feel like they changed my life. I was so hungry for more that I rented the movie and watched it over and over crying through the entire 2 hours or so. STILL hungry for more and not exactly satisfied with the whole “Happy Ending / The End” conclusion to the series I have been wishing so hard for a continuation such as… 5 years later or something. I won’t be satisfied with the books being written in other character’s point of views, Edward, Bella and everyone’s story needs to live on! When I heard about the fiasco with her manuscript having been leaked it felt like I had been shot. My sister and I cried and we totally can understand Stephenie’s pain. It probably felt like her creativity had been violently stripped from her and I understand how she may feel bitter towards Midnight Sun. However…! Punish the fans? I do not think that is an appropriate response, her greatest supporters skin is crawling and they are desperately longing for the drug to satisfy their Twilight Series addiction. Not to mention the publicity would to wonders for the sale of the book if she did decide to publish a finished copy. I’m about to go read Midnight Sun now and write Steph a formal letter. I’m glad to see I’m not the only one heartbroken.

look stephenie i love what you do. im inlove with your books and your books were the only full books i´ve ever read in my entire life!!! i used to hate reading until twilight came along and now im desparate for more! i want to read eclispe but i cant because my sisters wouldnt let me take it to spain thinking i wouldnt finnish new moon(which i did) and now i am going to get my mum to send it to me.lol. i know its not all about us and i understand how you feel, but you cant let these silly people get to your head you have to continue what you love to do the most and show them whos boss(you). the only reason why people are being mean is because they are jealous that you have an amazing talent which they dont have but they want. unfortunately for them not everyone gets what they want so many twilight fans maybe let down in this case sooo boy!!!!! stephenie i think we all understand how you must feel but just dont think about it pretend it never happened(although it might take alittle longer than i expected) and write midnight sun. look sweety i know your going through a lot of pain and i understand that it must be harder for you because your a writter and all, just please i say this with all my heart mind and strenght dont let your fans who are waiting for this fantastic book to come out down. help us out here im doing my best to try and comfort you and no matter what you choose to do i will be there 100% for you because you were the only writter whos books i enjoyed and felt the urge to read. and you were the one person who got me into reading so i want to thank you and make sure your feeling abit better.BYE:)
at first when edward ran away i thought it was meant to be bella and jacob . im sorry but i love jacob to bits and i feel so bad for him when bella betrayed him for the vampires even though it could have been a trick. i cried my eyes out and when they had that arguement in the forest when jacob couldnt tell her his secret or be her friend i cried and when he jumped through her window to apologize my heart skipped a beat or two so please finnish midnight sun you cant leave me hanging!!!!!!!you should make it be jacob and bella and make the child be half wolf half human. i mean come on edward IS good in the film but does he really deserve the main roll in this? i dont think so! either way if that cant happen just make sure bella and jacob stay best of friends and talk to eachother alot because when i was reading the parts of when the always hanged out together and how he made her complete i felt a pain inside of me and that pain was called jealousy . jealousy because i know that i will never have true friends liike that, jealousy because no matter how hard i try i will never find anyone like him, anyone to alwys put a smile on my face when i see them tell them things i can trust them with and most of all love him the way she did. the only prolem i have is trusting people coz when i get attatched to them and love them with all my heart they go do something to make it fall apart and shatter into tiny pieces and its not only once when this happened to me soo i know how you feel coz you trusted them and they let you down and you dont know wheather you can ever trust then again!!!!!!!:(:(:(

I read the draft on the internet and loved it I wanted to read more. There was a few mistakes but i loved it and read it several of times. I go on her website every week to see if there is news of her continuing. So I hope very much that she would continue. i just wish that you could say that to her. Convince her to continue.
It is unfair for her and I suppose this is the hardest way for her to punish the person who did or send out a message that no one tolarates this stuff, and people might reconsider these kind of things in the future. ”No remember what happen to midnight sun”
I would love to read the rest im starting to understand Edwards mind better and can almost imagine how he thinks in the rest of the books. But it has been such a pleasure to read the draft that I wish that one day (hopefully soon) i could read the entire book.
