Summer is winding down now, and I can’t help but think of the Jennifer Lopez songs (and videos) that help round out the season.
#1 on my list would be Jen’s “I’m Gonna Be Alright.” I love the scenes from Spanish Harlem, with J-Lo out tanning and the guys from the neighborhood driving by. It makes me think of growing up in Milwaukee and playing kickball in the street, and just trying to hang on to every last bit of summer.
#2 on my list would be “Love Don’t Cost a Thing.” I can’t hear this song without thinking of the video where Jen is dancing on the beach and stripping off her clothes one by one. Now I can tell you that here in Milwaukee, we would never strip down like that in summer. Not because it isn’t warm enough, but because once we got in the water we’d quickly find out the water temperature is always 50 degrees! Even in summer.
#3 on my list would be Jen’s song, “Brave.” I love the rhyme and beat of this song. And since here in Milwaukee we’re having our 105th Harley Davidson anniversary, I think the motorcyle scenes are very appropriate.
I love the way this song conveys a sense of being strong and starting over, and really that’s what summer is all about. After all, when the summer is ending and fall is about to begin, it gives all a chance to start over. The secret is that fall is actually my favorite time of year. So I always look forward to the end of summer! And I’d like to do it while listening to these J-Lo songs.
What’s your favorite end of summer song?
