Hollyscoop caught up with Sumner Redstone at the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards. She first asked him about the show and he was quite clear that he’s excited about the money he was making from the event. LOL, at least he’s honest! He wouldn’t talk about one star in particular.
She then switched gears and asked him about Tom Cruise, their relationship and if they plan on making any more movies together. Redstone said that he likes Tom Cruise, that he is a good actor and they just recently had lunch together. As far as making movies together again, he said that they have already made a lot of movies together and whether they will again or not, he doesn’t know.
I would LOVE to see these two hook up for another movie!
Quite a different tune he’s singing now isn’t it. When Tom and Paramount first parted ways he was very critical of Tom and blamed him for M:I:3 not doing the very high numbers Paramount thought it should have. The truth is that Paramount was / is having problems and they couldn’t afford Tom any more. Tom’s ” behavior ” was a conveinent but flimsy excuse ( concidering other celebs have done so much worse) that Redstone gave to save face. Redstone’s argument about Tom being the reason M:I:3 didn’t do as expected fell flat when Oceans 13 also a third in a series , with many stars was released at the same time the following year and did even less then M:I:3 .
