Suri to Attend the Yawkey Centre For Early Education And Learning?

[Side note: I don’t often post anything regarding Tom and Katie’s belief system because it has caused problems in the past. I am choosing to go ahead and post this rumor/story because I think it is interesting and TomKat fans will want to know. Please refrain from making any rude or unnecessary comments about their religious beliefs.]

According to Hollyscoop (who got the story via The Daily Mail), Suri Cruise will be attending the Catholic Charities Yawkey Centre For Early Education And Learning. We saw pictures of Katie Holmes and Suri visiting the school and I was wondering why.

Katie Holmes, Suri Cruise

The article goes on to say that although Tom Cruise is a Scientologist, Suri will be raised Catholic and will start attending the school.

I imagine that wherever Suri goes to school, they have her best interests in mind.

Since this story is from the Daily Mail, I tend to disbelieve it. They’re pretty much a rag. Tom’s older children were raised in his belief system even thought their Mom is a Catholic and they were home schooled. Why would he not only change the religion part of it, but also the fact that he’s having Suri go to a public school. I looked into the the Yawkey Center and although they are run by Catholic Charities, they are a non-sectarian school that doesn’t teach religion which would mean Suri isn’t being given a Catholic education IF she does attend.

Finally, Tom finishes up the Boston shoot the middle of this month, I believe. That doesn’t give Suri very much time at the center. I disbelieve the article and I further disbelieve that Suri will be attending ANY school. I think they’re going to home school her. Just my opinion, of course.

Good for them!!! Suri is a delight in their lives, what other celebrity moms do you see with their children at all times. Now Suri is old enough to integrate a school and learning activities from a structured setting. Bravo Katie, what a great mom!!!

I think I might have to see a few pics of Suri going there before Iactually believe it, only because those British tabloids make up the biggest whoppers. But it would be good for Suri, I hope its true.

My problem with this school is that it’s in Dorchester- the most rough, sketchiest suburb of Boston. Although I’m sure she will be well watched, I would assume they would pick somewhere a little less crime ridden.

How sad that Tom is finishing shooting soon, I love all the pics that are coming out of Boston.
Charlotte Rose, have they finished making the movie already , that was quick.

  8. Lauren

I don’t believe this story either. Time will tell. Connor and Bella were home schooled.

No, no, annie. They’re not finished filming by a long shot. They’re just almost done filming in Boston. They’ll move on to LA, Spain, Austria and the Caribbean after this. :)

It seems we were all correct to be skeptical. The entire story is not true. The Boston Globe contacted Catholic Charities who runs the Yawkey Center and Suri is not registered as a student and is not attending the school. This was just another false story from the ridiculous British tabloid press.

Here’s the quote from the article:

“Britain’s Daily Mail is reporting that the Hollywood hero and his wife, Katie Holmes, are enrolling their 3-year-old daughter, Suri, in the Yawkey Center for Early Education and Care in Dorchester. Wait a minute: the celebrity Scientologist is sending his kid to a Catholic preschool? Apparently not. Catholic Charities, which runs the Yawkey Center, says it isn’t true. They say the rumor was started after Holmes and her daughter visited the Yawkey Center for Children and Learning at the Boston Children’s Museum.”

Well….if my most inoccuous comments weren’t in moderation forever, you’d know the story is not true kit! LOL!

forget the home schooling……Suri will be more well rounded if she is able to socialize with other children her age.

  14. kate

Catholic Charities says this is not true and the rumor started when Katie and Suri visited The Yawkey Center as part of a tour of the Boston Children’s Museum.
this came from The Boston Globe

Actually, Jenna, studies have shown the majority of homeschooled children are MORE well rounded than typical kids because they socialize with people of ALL ages, rather than just being with children born in the same 12 month span. It’s actually more of a narrow education being stuck in a classroom for hours with only people your own age. When does that scenario EVER repeat itself in “real life”? So I could see them homeschooling Suri if this rumor is indeed false. I just hope they have the time to do it right by ensuring she’s around lots of people from various walks of life along with keeping up on the acedemics. As much as they are into their little daughter, I’m sure they will allow her to really explore her interests.
