Last night’s episode of Tabatha’s Salon Takeover featured such a heinous owner (Nikki Mallon of Brownes and Company) that randoms have been popping up on the salons’ Yelp page to leave nasty comments.
They’ve also been leaving mean comments on the salon’s Facebook wall, which some meaningless peon of Nikki’s has been deleting. A few friends of hers have also popped up to sing the tired old song of blaming it on the e-e-e-diting.
Thankfully, it takes a little longer to remove Yelp listings, so we can still enjoy people losing their collective shit over a reality show. Nice to see people mobilizing over a cause they truly believe in! Here are some choice comments, many of which were left by Yelpers with only one review, who seemingly created the account just to trash Nikki:

“I can’t believe anyone would treat their employees this way. That is ridiculous, irresponsible, and unethical. I feel really bad for them. The owner is completely ridiculous.
At the same time, I feel silly for posting this having never been there, but I just wanted to let the owner know. If I’m in Miami, I’ll never go there.”
From “Katie J,” who also decided to give a lesson in the difference between English and American government:
“This owner is the worst I’ve ever seen or heard about and I hope she reads all of these comments and see’s what people think about her. Not like she would act like she cared but once you realize that everybody you meet hates you, like isn’t worth it… I don’t know how SHE can tell her beautiful stylists how they look, she is an ugly old hag. She also says that she acts that way because “shes British”…then go back to Britain! America doesn’t need you and people here appreciate their employees if they know whats good for them. I’m a business student and she obviously has never been to school, she probably has an 8th grade education, where all the kids made fun of her because anybody that pessimistic is wasting your life being a mean, nasty person. Now anybody in Miami who wants to know reviews for this salon, will definently never go there. I hope all the employees go elsewhere and screw her contract, take her to court, that is ridiculous, you have the right to work wherever you want, if your not working anywhere else. Once your gone form that hell, your contract is void and you can work wherever you want. Don’t let that fat hag tell you where you can’t work.
Go back to England, you don’t deserve to live in America acting like this is a monarchy, its a democracy here honey, we appreciate others and don’t take our hate for ourselves out on anybody!! Bad idea going on this show btw. Tabitha is English and she may be blunt and sometimes harsh but she at least knows the value of respect for others.”
Thankfully, another reviewer, “Norbert W” cared to point out that Nikki is Irish and Tabatha is Australian.
The authentic reviews for the salon are actually sort of good, most of the complaining is reserved for the salon’s high prices. I checked the salon’s price list out, and honestly, nothing stood out as too excessive, considering it is a high-end spa in an expensive neighborhood (Miami’s South Beach). A $25 brow wax is just par for the course at this kind of a joint. What was more interesting was that there are two locations of Brownes & Company! Nikki has even more people to infect with her nanny cams and “non-compete” contracts!
My thought is that Nikki wanted Tabatha to (a) agree with her on how she saw her staff and yell at them, and (b) get a complete makeover for free. Unlike the previous salons Tabatha has taken over, Browne & Company didn’t seem to be doing as poorly as the other salons we’ve seen.

Nikki is English, but she is from Northern Ireland. Not all people on the Emerald Isle are Irish, particularly up north.

Could not believe this episode! Tabatha (as always) was spot on with her assessment of this…witch! Honestly, I think the entire universe could talk to her until their blue in the face…this b@tch is f-ing blind to anything or anyone but herself! She’s the worst of the worst of business owners! She’s worst of the worst of HUMAN BEINGS! Not only does she treat her people like dogs…no matter what, she shackles them with a contract so that can’t work anywhere near her if they quit or if she fires them! I’ve worked for the British AND the Irish and none of them were as crazy mean and wicked as this waste of a human life. And someone actually married this crazy person! DAMN! What’s that make him? A human noodle? I just have one request…DO NOT LET THIS WOMAN PROCREATE!
I just caught the repeat episode with this Monster, Nikki. I have never written to any show or responded to something seen on a reality show, but this woman is just like the monster that is my ostensible manager at a hotel I work at in Geyserville, California. WHY are they even WORKING in a business that requires them to be around people??? She is cruel, uncaring, nasty, and a miserable waste of a life just like the prick I work “under”. He too has cameras to watch employees, but has no audio, so he creates stories around what he sees to get people fired! I am OUTRAGED after viewing the show, and I can’t believe all the buttons it set off for me. And the bad part is, they are smart monsters and know that people need their jobs, so we all can’t just quit. But express an opinion or confront him and, Wow what do you know?? You get canned. And he is a master at putting on a different face just like this witch, Nikki, did. She needs to go far far away and have NO human contacts. You can see the hate and anger all over her face, just the like my manager. Jeez, she brought me down. And they don’t change. They are not capable. So sad.
Tabatha is a consummate professional and the kind of boss that makes you want to be better. Nikki is the polar opposite of Tabatha…..she is just horrifying, toxic, and a cancer to any person’s career she interacts with…and sadly I’ve met people like her. Anyone who wants to succeed in their career should avoid bosses like Nikki!!!!!
I too, became passionately angry after watching this episode. Micromanagers are a plague in all industries.
This woman should step out of the salon and only watch the numbers. She’s too insecure to let go and allow someone else manage the day-to-day operations.
No one likes to work under “big brother” and she’s created this really hostile work place.
What really struck me was this statement she made about how “these people don’t matter”…”they aren’t my family, they aren’t my friends” — the thing she doesn’t understand is that if she lets them know that she doesn’t see them as human beings, they’re not going to perform to the best of their ability.
She’s demoralizing her staff.
I wouldn’t want to work for someone who makes blatent statements about my lack of significance, as though my existence is completely irrelevant.
I would really hope I didn’t have a heart attack in her presence, because I don’t think she would even call 911.
If I got hit by a car, and was laying in the street, bleeding to death, I think she would just drive around me.
Her attitude was totally fascist. Like, you know, she was probably descended from the Irish people who assisted the Nazis in WWII.
Awful. Awful human being…who shouldn’t manage other people. God help us all if this woman had children.
I’m still angry, so I continued to do research. She’s Protestant, Northern Ireland.
I’m really trying to understand this woman’s damage. If she were born and raised in Northern Ireland, probably a teenager during the 1970s or 1980s (“The Troubles”) with Bobby Sands starving to death, children being bombed on their way to school…yeah, that probably explains why she’s such a misanthrope.
She probably doesn’t see certain people as human, or as having feelings. If she were raised around people who beat-up the Catholic kids, dehumanizing them on a daily basis…then, yeah, I can see how you can become a dispicable person as an adult.
This is a terrible tragedy, though, because lack of compassion affects everyone.
It’s just really shocking to see someone completely void of compassion. It’s the bud that leads to staggering crimes against humanity.
Oh my gosh. Nikki is mentally ill. I mean certifiably off her rocker. She needs to get the hell out of the business. She says she is European. Awesome, go back to Europe. I doubt they will put up with your craptastic ways there. It was like she could not deal with being wrong or corrected in any way. She would rather be miserable and convinced she is right. Plus, what dumbass sits and watches a video from her home, a paranoid schizophrenic, that’s who. The women looks crazy. She is fat, disheveled and mugs for the cameras. This woman needs to get hit by a car or taken about 50 miles out to sea and dropped off. And her accent, oh my god….”Shut the hell up lady.”
It is like this woman is mentally retarded. Did she have a head injury at some point? And I am not kidding, she reminds me of people who have head injuries and can’t seem to understand. Interesting no family was mentioned. Interestingly, “A Christmas Carol” is on right now. This woman is Ebenezer Scrooge before the visits from the three ghosts. She is so pathetic it is hard to get mad at her. She is so locked in her own thinking. It is obvious she was brought up with no class and is way out of her league in Miami Beach. She is fat and physically repulsive and has an attitude to match.
I have watched this episode twice now; Nikki is the biggest Bitch I’ve ever seen!! (I hate the C word and that is the work that describes her!)

Whenever an employer wants their people to sign the kind on non-compete
she requires it’s only done so the management can abuse their employees.
If you treat your people well they will work hard and never leave you; so

Any person who has seen on tv the way the owner of this establishment
treats her employees should make it a point to NEVER EVER patronize this establishment. This ogre of a person makes her employees sign contracts to keep them from leaving, then treats them like they are her indentured servants.
The claim that the negative portrayal of the owner is a product of editing is an absurdity ! The owner time and time again goes out of her way to voice a level of hate, and despise toward her employees
that it is clear that it is not a product of editing.
All you need to do is listen to the owners irrational contradictions to realize that she is abusive and manipulative, and the cause of her own problems.
After admitting she hates her employees and treats them the way they deserve to be treated yet she does NOT fire them. Why? Because she is doing them a favor by not firing them?? Only a controlling personality would treat people like garbage, claim that they deserve nothing better, but then not fire them.
If her priority were truly the success of her buisness , which is the justification in her mind for her abusive ways, then why claim multiple times that she wants to close down her buisness because she no longer interested in the ‘hair buisness’ ? It’s all contradictions:
she hates her buisness but will not close it,
she hates her employees but will not fire them,
she hates everything about this aspect of her life,
but refuses to change anything.
This is classic abusive personality, she does everything in her power to maintain a situation where she is ‘forced’ to abuse people under her control. She has all the power in the situation yet does not change anything, instead just uses that power to justify even worse abuse. All the time claiming she is the powerless victim in the situation.
This is the kind of situation found in so many abusive relationships between spouses. An example: ‘ I hit her because she is garbage and I hate her, but I do not want her to leave ..’ Sound familiar??

Interesting that she kept saying it was a business and that her employees should just get over it, but was red-faced, furious, and near-tears the whole episode when criticism was directed at her. I guess being “European” only applies to criticizing, not giving criticism.

She is mentally deficient. She has no idea how positive change comes about.
She is out of control her chest and neck and face are overwrought and out of balance. She is fat, dumpy, ugly with no skill in design or appearance. It’s hard to believe that she is in the business. It all seems to be wasted on her. Nothing communicates to her. However she made her money it couldn’t have come through any expertise. She’s like a diletante who will always be an outsider looking in. Expression, design, art is completely wasted on her. She doesn’t care about others because she is not connected to anyone.
She is damaged and probably will always be…a rage-a-holic sucking on the bottle, looking for peace, and none comes. I wonder why…

Nikki is a ridiculous excuse for a human being. I had a crazy hag like her as a neighbor once. These self-absorbed nutbags do not listen to anything you say. It is pointless to even speak to them. She is incredibly bitter that she has ended up in life being fat, ugly, broke, and unloved, and she wants to bring others down to make herself feel better. Stylists, flee from her ASAP! It will only get worse for you.
I would be very very interested in a professional reading of her ‘contract’ for ex-employees. I know stylists aren’t rolling in money, but they could easily pool their resources and hire a lawyer. I’d sure be looking into breaking the contract if I were them – or suing HER for a totally hostile work environment.
Nikki is a hideous excuse for a business owner and person. She deserves to lose everything and more. Knowing somebody like this exists and cries about her suffering business needs to look in the mirror for the source of the problem. I feel sorry for her staff and putting up with such a mess of an owner.
I truly do not understand why all the stylist continue to work there? Yesl, I heard about the contract however I doubt that contract has legal legs especially after this segment is aired. A judge would consider this unfair working policys. Doing hair at home, on the side womewhere would be better than there. Nicci needs to be deported.
Just saw the episode – I kept saying OMG all the way through!! I’ve never seen a business owner OR a boss as negative as Nikki!! Also never seen a more hostile work environment. Don’t blame it on her being Northern Irish or as she put it – ‘European’ – I’ve met quite a few individuals from both Ireland and Northern Ireland (not to mention Wales and England) who were lovely people. Her excusing her attitude towards her staff and business by saying she’s ‘European’ is an insult to the entire population of Europe!! She is obviously seriously mentally and/or emotionally damaged. Whether from a traumatic childhood or not, doesn’t matter – lots of people go through trauma in their lives, and they get past it and take responsibility for themselves. Nikki just wants to blame everyone else – her staff, Tabatha, life. I agree with the poster who compared Nikki and her staff to an abusive relationship – Nikki WANTS and needs someone to abuse, and her staff is vulnerable. Makes me wonder if she is as controlling and abusive in her personal relationships!!

Yes, Nikki as a business owner you need to be everyone’s friend and be there to support them and pick them up not push them down. You have no ideal what you need to do to have a successful business.

I go to this salon and spa every week and it is not at all like what was depicted on the show in fact the producers or Tabatha ought to correct their take on it, it is well run and very busy and the stylists are lazy and always on cellphones or outside smoking! I would have done what the owner did here and Tabatha did nothing to support her frustration unlike last night’s episode where she kissed her ass and brought her to scream on the beach, get real, like that will earn you 500k.. I saw her side with the staff on this one totally biased, poor brownes!!
