‘Teen Mom 2′ Star Kailyn Lowry Is Getting Into the Public Speaking Business

Teen Mom 2 is on a break while the original series of Teen Mom comes back, but Kailyn Lowry seems determined to stay in the spotlight. In addition to launching an Amway website with her boyfriend Jordan Wenner, she also launched a personal website, KailynLowry.com. She’s also getting into the public speaking business. A note on her website announced, “Kail was contacted by a local middle school to do a presentation about birth control, the prevention of teen pregnancy, and life as a teen mom. She’s working with her people on drafting up a presentation and working with the school about what specific guidelines they would like to make sure is included. A date will be announced once everything is set in stone!”

It’s not unusual for MTV stars to make some income on the side by going on speaking tours. It’s practically a tradition for Real World alums to do college speaking tours, with former housemates talking about everything from LGBT rights to safe sex to minority rights. Former friends and Real World: New Orleans castmates Melissa Howard and Julie Stoffer ended up hating each other because Julie’s mother became a manager for Melissa and several other Real Worlders but would disparage the others in order to get more engagements – and money – for Julie. And Teen Mom hasn’t been exempt from this phenomenon: Maci Bookout has reportedly made a decent secondary income from speaking at colleges on her own and as part of her Candie’s Foundation work with Bristol Palin. Somehow I doubt that a local Pennsylvania middle school is going to pay Kail six figures to come and speak, but if she’s able to parlay this into more work she could possibly make enough to quit that job at Forever21.
