Normally Metcalfe plays womanizers destroying marriages and breaking hearts. As Van McNulty, he also enjoys shooting people (meteor freaks to be precise). And decked out in camo gear, he could still probably destroy some marriages on the side.
A lot of remakes welcome cast members from their original for wink-nudge type of cameos. Smallville treated Reeve and his superman roots right by creating a well thought out character Dr. Virgil Swan, who helps Clark learn about his past (and superman's past is Reeve's past! ok it's a little wink-nudge, but still great).
Playing the much Chloe's asylum bound mother Carter again threatens to create a short circuit in fan boys everywhere as wonder woman is saved by superman.
