Great news! My friend & fellow Spekked blogger Jeanne Dupuis has Written her recap of this week’s Biggest Loser episode for us. You can read more of her great show recaps on her Idol Stalker blog.
The episode begins with trainer, Bob, showing his shock over the elimination of Mark from the Blue team. Black team member, Brittany, is sad to see Mark gone because she feels that Roger is the bigger threat.
Allison shows the team the next “temptation” which involves using a vending machine. Contestants must punch in the code and eat whatever the machine gives them. In addition to junk food, there are one pound passes and gum packets that are worth between $500 and $5000. Getting gum is worth more than just the money, however. Getting a gum pack allows the contestant to keep using the vending machine and, rather than eat any junk food that is dispensed, they can chew on a 5 calorie stick of gum. Contestants who get a 1 pound pass must stop playing.
(follow the jump for the rest!)
Roger (Blue team) volunteered to go first and he got a gum pack worth $1000 and then got Cracker Jacks (was able to chew gum instead of eating it). Next he got the 1 pound pass and his turn ended.
Dan (Blue team) got chips, M&Ms, crackers and chocolate wafers. He then got gum pack after gum pack until he had gotten $9500.
Jay (Blue team) got a 1 pound pass off the bat.
Kelly (Black team) got a Twinkie, Reese Cups, Oreos, Kit Kats and then had to quit because she felt nauseous.
Bernie got chips and then gum packs worth $2000 and $500 and a 1 pound pass.
Brittany got M&Ms and a 1 pound pass.
Maggie got a 1 pound pass.
Kelly immediately went to work off what she ate in the gym and Bernie climbed the hill to claim his prize for being last week’s biggest loser. He picked “gameplay” which meant he could give immunity to any player besides himself.
The contestants went back to the hospital they had visited earlier in the season to look at their progress and the results were incredible. This is why this show is so important because the health benefits that come along with weight loss are great. It’s fabulous that they brought the focus back onto this aspect of things rather than just on winning the game.
For this week’s challenge, the contestants had to fly across a 500 ft. canyon and pick up as many flags as they can as they travel along the zip line. Since the Black team had more people, Maggie sat out. The Blue team won the challenge and were rewarded by being able to be passengers in fighter pilot planes for a day.
At the weigh-in, Allison announced that the teams no longer exist, it’s every player for themselves and the yellow line made a comeback. Bernie gave immunity to Brittany, his former teammate.
Here are the numbers:
- Roger – 9 lbs (3.73%)
- Maggie – 6 lbs (3.68%)
- Dan – 8 lbs (3.65%)
- Jay – 7 lbs (3.62%)
- Bernie – 6 lbs (3.48%)
- Brittany – 5lbs (3.35%)
- Kelly – 6 lbs (2.83%)
Since Bernie gave Brittany immunity, he took her place below the yellow line. He was ultimately voted off which may have truly saved her from elimination. At home, Bernie lost another 20 lbs bringing his total weight loss to 108 lbs.
