Great news! My friend & fellow Spekked blogger Jeanne Dupuis has Written her recap of this week’s Biggest Loser episode for us. You can read more of her great show recaps on her Idol Stalker blog.
On last night’s episode of The Biggest Loser, the teams were told that they would be sent home for a week but they would still have to come back to the ranch and submit to the weigh-in as usual. While away, they were expected to remain focused on their weight loss.
It was great to see everyone go home and face their temptations and show their families how much they have already accomplished. It was also interesting to see their support systems.
Mark (Blue team) came home to a wife who had lost some weight as well but his “Welcome Home” party included so many pastries! When he saw his young son with one, he freaked out, took it from him and dumped everything in the garbage. It was great. His brother, Jay (also Blue team) was also trying to make healthy choices but he noted, when he went out to dinner with his family, that he and his wife were eating healthy but their children were feasting on plates full of fish and chips. He said he felt guilty that he was allowing his children to eat that way (he was also tempted by the french fries). The brothers worked out together several times as well.
(follow the jump for the rest!)
Bernie (Black team) went back to his favorite bakery where they had named a cupcake after him. He held it and smelled it but he did not eat it!
Brittany (Black team) went out with some girlfriends and while they ordered alcoholic drinks, she stuck to water. Good thing too because right as she sat down, Jillian called to check up on her!
Kelly (Black team) seemed to be trying her best to stay on track and attempted to remain in contact with her former Yellow team member, Paul, but he didn’t seem to want to be found (he also avoided Jillian’s calls). In fact, Paul (Black team) was shown chowing down on hot wings, soda, ice cream and who knows what else? It was a real disappointment!
Dan (Blue team) was able to reunited with his mother Jackie (eliminated two weeks ago) and he marvelled at how active they were with the children at their youth center when compared to how things were before they started on The Biggest Loser.
Roger (Blue team) was able to resist some incredibly tasty looking southern barbecue and, when eating out, he ordered grilled meat and vegetables even though he was tempted to eat some fries.
Maggie (Black team) met up with former teammate, Jenn, and they worked out together. Maggie felt less than challenged by Jenn’s trainer who was nothing compared to Jillian!
Back at the ranch, the teams faced a challenge where they had to alternate ducking under and jumping over a set of rotating bars. In the end, the Black team won (through Brittany’s perseverance) and the reward was that they had to choose two Blue team members who would have to do their weigh-in a full day before everyone else. They chose Dan and Roger since they perceived them as the biggest threats and didn’t want to give them the opportunity to lose even more weight.
I was worried for Dan and Roger but they performed brilliantly! Dan lost 11 pounds during his week-long stay at home and Roger lost an amazing 16 pounds! The next day at the weigh-in, everyone was stunned by the huge numbers that Dan and Roger had put up and the rest of the Blue team (Mark and Jay) hit the scales. Mark lost 13 pounds while his brother Jay had his biggest week yet with a 16 pound loss which also was the first time he put up a bigger number than his brother.
The Blue Team:
- Dan lost 11 pounds
- Roger lost 16 pounds
- Mark lost 13 pounds
- Jay lost 16 pounds
Total = 56 pounds (incredible!)
Next, the Black team weighed in. Here are their numbers:
- Maggie lost 6 pounds
- Bernie lost 5 pounds
- Brittany lost 3 pounds
- Kelly lost 7 pounds
- Paul lost 5 pounds
Total = 26 pounds
In the end, Paul was eliminated and I was not sad at all after how he behaved during his week away from the ranch. After returning home, Paul fell ill with pneumonia and gained 6 pounds but is trying to get back on track for the finale.
