It’s almost laughable to even write about this, but you know what? Naturally the media and the bloggers and possibly people around the water cooler at the office have been talking about this topic – I’ve even had a few people in my offline life ask me about it.
Of course I am referring to how, allegedly, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie snubbed Ryan Seacrest on the red carpet at the Golden Globe Awards. Did they snub him or not? Let’s talk about it. If you actually haven’t had a chance to see it yet, here’s the clip:
Now there are two possibilities:
1. They didn’t intend to snub him. Brad and Angelina were merely in the middle of posing for the cameras when Ryan came barreling down the steps and onto the red carpet – where he technically wasn’t supposed to be, when he bolts at the beginning of the clip you can here the guy behind him telling him to stay up on the stage – and by the time they were done, security clearly steered them along to move on down the red carpet towards the entrance or another interview they had already agreed to do (such as the one with ET).
2. They did indeed snub him because they just didn’t feel like speaking to someone who has spoken negatively about them – Angelina in particular – in the past. The most obvious moment was when Ryan dissed Angie on his radio show after the 2007 Golden Globes. Of course, we later found out that her mother was very ill and dying at the time, and could have had a lot to do with her lack of interaction that year; however, he has, I believe, spoken poorly of her other times.
I think that either situation is entirely possible. The red carpet is always crazy and there’s so much screaming. Sure, WE can hear Ryan quite clearly because he’s got a mic hooked up to the feed, but remember all those videos we’ve seen when Brad and Angelina step out on the red carpet? The screaming gets so loud that I’m amazed anyone can hear anything at all out there. I could absolutely believe that they didn’t hear him because they were pre-occupied with the cameras in front of them, and then it was too late because they were then sent on their way.
But you know, I would also believe that they just purposely chose not to speak to him too. And why not? They choose to deal with the magazines that treat them well and treat them fairly, particularly People magazine. Meanwhile, they don’t deal with the magazines that repeatedly trash them, like Us or Life & Style. If ET has always treated them well, then why not rush to give them an interview and avoid the networks that slam them when they aren’t around? There’s a limited amount of time for each celebrity out on the red carpet, so they have to pick and choose which interviews they can fit in. Brad and Angelina aren’t newcomer actors who need the exposure, they can choose to avoid negative people if they want.
In the end, I think that my personal guess and opinion is this: I think that it was unintentional. I think they were too busy to notice in time to talk to him. But you know, if and when they heard about it after the fact, I’ll bet they weren’t exactly sorry that they had missed out on talking to him.
(In the spirit of full disclosure, I’ll confess that in general I do like Ryan Seacrest. I prefer him as the host of American Idol though, not so much as an entertainment show host. Still, I didn’t like the way he spoke about Angelina in 2007, and I thought it was fairly amusing that he practically leaped off the stage and started calling to them.)

Thank you Mary Ann, that’s exactly why I’m here to read and look at lovely pics. My son is a joy, it was just hard to see the beauty at first through our sadness. But now, my perspective has changed. Life is good.

Can’t stand Ann Coulter. I think she relishes her image maybe because she keeps her name out there.

Susan, to answer your question, Seacrest only ‘factors into their life,’ when they’re deciding who they will not speak to on red carpets – other than that he doesn’t factor in. Why would he? No one is saying he does either. My whole point is, just that – there was no dilemma. It’s as simple for them, as it is for you and I deciding not speak or socialize with people at work we know are assholes. People do it every day. :-)

I noticed that, even Jay-Z did it with B.
And Extra did not comment on it. But when Angie moved inside whilst Brad finished interviews Mario talked about her being surrounded by bodyguards and cocooned so they couldn’t get near her! Most of them feel entitled to face time from Brad and Angie.
Anyway as she moved towards the door another Extra person asked her a question and she stopped and answered.
I believe that’s when she said you route the other person “because that’s what you do when you are crazy about someone!”

I think they did decide to not talk to that piece of crap.. But it amazes me that people do not listen to Brad when he talks. I have said it before and I will say it again.. You don’t mess with the Jolie-Pitts.. especially Mr. Pitt. Brad said in his RS interview that he and Angie do ask around and find out what mags or reporters are talking negatively about them. He said that they do have their pride and would not give those “people” the time of day. Brad is in charge. He talked about not having a PR team any more (Angie’s influence I think). He is in control of his movements and career choices. He is aware of the attacks on Angie.. Note HE handled that stuff regarding his parents (MOM) going to see Jennifer, the picture of that made it seem as if Jen was the chosen one.. Note/ no more on camera visits. I am sure Brad made it clear to the rents (MOM) that Angie is the only one. and note that they are all lovey dovey… Brad is quiet, but I can see under that, the man does not play. I think if your cross him, he is not the type to curse or make a scene, but he will get pay back.. as they say walk quietly, but carry a big stick.. Angie has said that Brad has her back, that he is always there for her.. He is so protective of her it is unreal..Cate B. said in an interview how much in love he is with Angelina.. Angie is more outspoken, but note that Brad is opening up more. I think this is in answer to the crap that has gone on. He has said exactly what Angie has said..Where are the attacks on him..Why has Jennifer not come out.. I think Mr. Pitt has handled that situation.. I don’t expect Jennifer to make any more comments about the Jolie-Pitts in the future..
Back to Ryan.. His head is just so big. He needs to remember that when HE as the interviewer becomes the story; the HE is doing something wrong. I’m glad they talked to everyone and their uncle instead of him.. maybe E will get the message. Not many of the A list stars want to talk to him at all.. Alec Baldwin cut him a new one big time.

I have to say, that looked like a snub to me, what with Brad looking back at Seacrest and Angelina then whispering something to him. It looks like they had some help from security if in fact they were trying to dodge the interview.

On Friday’s Ellen DeGeneres Show, she asks the single Desperate Housewives star if she’d ever go on a date with the American Idol host.
“That’s gross,” she says. “I’ve met him.”
When DeGeneres says that Seacrest is a “great guy,” Sheridan snaps, “I did his radio show, and he was very rude about me the next day. So I don’t like him.

i’m really sad that they always portray Angelina as being a bad person. I Know I saw Brad with her but for some reason – they pointing on just anglina. Don’t know why ryan seacrest would not admit it that he just a bad interviewer and big A. Im happy that brad and Angelina ignored him. I love your website sherry. thanks for all your hardwork.

very good if they did snub him intentionally, why not??! when this man had spoke poorly/insulted angelina jolie in the past, of course she wont have good impression of him and are upset with him, its very natural to dislike him and want to ignore him! i would and so all of you would im sure. so whether they did snub this horrible man or not, i think E entertainment and him and all other who’s spoke poorly of jopitt couple should be ignored and snubbed always!!

I definitely think they snubbed him, and they have every right to do so.
Also, at GG07, she had every right to be so miserable. her mother was dying. Cut her some slack. even movie stars can’t be “on” all the time.
That being said, for Ryan Seacrest to go on to basically bash Angelina was a bad move on his part. Did he think she would come running to apologize to him?
FYI, her interview wasn’t even that bad. she was polite and you could tell she was trying.
I’m glad they snubbed him, because once it came out her mother was dying he looked like a big jerk for talking so much crap about her gg07 appearance.
He burned a bridge with the biggest movie-star couple in the WORLD. And that’s HIS bad.

Oh, and in regards to whether or not they snubbed Ryan, I don’t know if they did or didn’t, but I don’t like using the word “snub”. Like another pittwatcher said, “snub” just sounds so unprofesional, and I just can’t see Angie and Brad doing anything unprofessional (at least not on purpose!).
I believe that Clinqua’s probably right in her guess that Ryan and/or E! were informed before hand that the J-Ps were not going to stop for an interview with E!.
