"The Catcher in the Rye" among Mischa Barton's favorite books

In a new blog post “Just a Few Book Suggestions” on her official website, Mischa Barton tells her fans about her love for reading and names some of her favorites as well as what she’s reading right now.

“One thing you might not know about me is I’m an avid reader — I’m obsessed with books,” Mischa says in the video.

Currently, Mischa says she is reading “Wonderland Avenue: Tales of Glamour and Excess,” the story of Danny Sugarland who ended up working with The Doors. She says the book is a great story of Los Angeles in the ’60s and ’70s — Mischa’s favorite era.

Along the same lines, Mischa says she enjoyed “Laurel Canyon: The Inside Story of Rock and Roll’s Legendary Neighbors” — a book from the same era about the people living in the neighborhood in Los Angeles she lives in — how cool the people were and the whole birth of its music scene.

Some of her favorite books include: “Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genious” and “What is the What,” both by David Eggers, “White Oleander” by Janet Fitch (the protaganist Astrid is one of her favorite book characters) as well as the classic “The Catcher in the Rye” by J.D. Salinger.
