Okay, I don’t understand what all of you are thinking. It was so long and so drawn out. If I wanted to see a film of Brad Pitt looking hot I would have just watched Legends of the Fall. This movie was so far off from the book and so long and boring. The great moments were few and far between. Almost three hours of my life spent watching a boring moving that I will never get back! I am so glad that Marley and Me is kicking butt at the box office. My kids went to that one instead and loved it, we are planning on seeing it again.
From Kari’s post “Where he says some cool stuff… like that his life before having kids had reached a dead end.” I’m sure the way he said it was very sweet, and that the interview is indeed cool. However, how long do you think it will take the tabs to say that he hurt Jen by saying that his life had reached a dead end before having kids?
I hope that won’t happen, as I hate it when Angie and Brad get ripped apart by the tabs, but knowing the tabs, it probably will. *sigh*
UNDER MOD- Hoping the tabs won’t rip apart the BP interview that Kari and neer mentioned.
nadia, I just saw an article on Fox News’ website saying just that. The headline is: “Jen Beats Brad! Finally!” Now, if it were JustJared, PerezHilton, or some other tabloidish site saying that, that would be one thing.
However, I was shocked to see Fox News stooping so low, and am greatly dissapointed in them. Even Jen herself said in a recent interview that it’s not a contest between CCOBB and M&M. She then said something along the lines of “My hope is that both movies do well. Why should one have to be better than the other?”
In anycase, it certainly sounded like she wasn’t worried or upset about the possibility of CCOBB making more than M&M. I also highly doubt that Brad sees this as a contest. Sure he hopes his movie does well…But if Jen’s does just as well or better? I don’t think he’s going to be that upset about it!
I saw CCBB last night, my showing was sold out.
I love Brad, and I enjoyed the movie, but I just felt like the hospital/Katrina angle dragged the movie out. I think it would have been a lot better without those parts, although I understand the tie-in. I did feel the movie was too long. Maybe that was because there was no Brad in the hospital scenes!
The movie was excellent for many of the scenes. Brad’s acting was wonderful. Seeing him as a man in his 20’s was … well, incredible. And the ending was definitely a tear-jerker.
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is a Classic! I haven’t seen a movie in a long time that was as captivating as this one and I am so ‘proud’ of Brad Pitt’s brilliant performance. I predict that the Movie, Brad, the Music, Special Effects, and Director will take many awards! As always, Cate is wonderful to watch. The story of Benjamin Button is unique and moving. I was amazed at how well this was done. The movie may have been 3 hours but the characters and story remain with me long after! This tops my list of favorites.
Neer, that marriage was on life support for a while only needed to pull the plug, CPR would have been having kids but that was the wrong thing to do, maybe he just though why have kids with someone who maybe would not be happy with motherhood anyway. When I read the interview I though lots of marriage s and relationships hit dead end for whatever reason and there is nothing left to say or do but many of us continue to pretend that is working smile and make nice, but when they are behind close door they go to separate rooms it happen, the quicker you make a decision to go the better, pretending just make the pain last longer. Brad is just fed up with all the lies and trash so he try to tell what it was like in his own way. I will take his words for it beacuse he was there, he live with it. X and media make him out to be a wimp and Angie this woman who say I want you and he just left his happy marriage that did not happen. Brad made a decision to leave and go after the woman who capture his heart, because his marriage was at a dead end this is very hard to take, who would want that to happen but it’s a reality,he had open his heart to love someone else only it happen to be Angie and it was so quick. I truly think that they were both afraid of loosing each other why they went at it so quick, what do you think.
I saw TCCOBB last night with my family and boyfriend. I cried several times, and overall thought the movie was excellent.
My favorite aspect of the movie was how upfront it was with the topics of death and aging, in a way you don’t often see in Hollywood pictures. Also, the New Orleans setting was fantastic, both visually and story-wise.
Brad played the character as being very passive, shy and reticent, which generally worked.
However, I thought there were some moments that warranted more overt emotion: some of the character’s motivations didn’t come across well enough.
Because of this, I think Brad has a good chance for an Oscar nom, but don’t think the performance is worthy of a win (just my opinion). I think Brad’s performance in The Assassination of Jesse James was better and worthy of an Oscar. I do have faith that his best role is yet to come!
I should also add that Brad looks super hot in the second half of TCCOBB, and a lot of the suspense of the movie is in waiting for the character to grow up so he can look like…Brad! The first time Benjamin Button appears onscreen as a young man (in Paris), the women in the audience audibly sighed. It was a funny/great moment
the movie was beautiful. My hubby enjoyed it, he usually falls asleep. At the end I just sat there and said “beautiful”.
Hi all… I usually read this site but never offer up an opinion… I also just got home from watching CCBB and thought it was awesome. My friend, who is not really a Brad Pitt fan per se thought it was also awesome. She said she would recommend it to anyone. The show was also virtually sold out. The time flew by… made us laugh, made us tear up… I noticed that unlike most other movies… when there were quiet moments… the theatre was also quiet like people were paying attention. All ages were there. At the end there was applause by the audience
…
Here’s an interview with Brad Pitt on Charlie Rose discussing CCBB.

I didnt like this movie as much as i thought i would have…i actually cant believe its getting great reviews. I thought it was ok but not spectacular. It was so long and drawn out that i just wanted it to be over. Shortly after i watched marley and me and i liked that much better and i was actually filled with emotions of sadness that i didnt expect when watching that film. Marley and me takes you through laughter, being happy, sad and mad throughout the two hour long film. I also just recently watched changeling and i thought that was a much better drama than this movie. I think the only reason why the curious case of benjamin button is getting good reviews is because people arent objective. Fans like brad pitt so much that they will love any movie that he is in. Although i am a fan of brad pitt i have seen him in better movies.
Just got home from the mall watching the matinee of TCCOBB. I loved it — great movies would recommend it to everyone who likes a great movie. The only part of my body that didn’t think it was great was my bladder. Beware don’t have a large soda with this movie. BP should win all awards nominated for.
I just saw button, and WOW. It was really heart felt, it really makes you think about how you are living this life. It make you want to try new things in 2009, and I think I will!!!!!!
Hi… I have previously posted re how much I enjoyed CCBB when my friend and I saw it. Just an update… my friend recommended it to her family who asked about it… and she is not a Brad Pitt fan… My daughter who is into more serious movies etc also went to see it few days later (she also could care less re Brad) with her boyfriend and she said it made her cry in places and her boyfriend also like it. She rarely goes to theatres. Yes there are some parts that are a little drawn out.. But like me… they said it did not even feel like it was as long it was and overall it was very good.
i was pleasantly surprised to find out that F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote the short story upon which the movie Benjamin Button was based, (they mention this in the opening credits)
