The Dos and Don’ts of Drama, with ‘Degrassi’: Girl Crush

Alli promises Degrassi a school dance if they let her tutor them to ace their math test. Simpson calls her into his office because it seems that after only a day back she's returned to starting a ruckus, but she explains her plan, and they shake on it.

(It turns out that she raises the school's score by 11 points, securing the teachers' jobs and getting that dance. It's nice to see Alli turning things around.)

Anya's growing up; after being in love with a musician and briefly dating a doctor, now she's developed a crush on Owen, the crass, immature bully. This plotline is hard to figure out; it seemed cute when he hugged her as a thank-you for getting him back into the lifeguard class, but then he sniffed her hair and it turned creepy.

I mean, by all means DO flirt with you ex, Drew. Since your girlfriend Bianca is already on the fringes of high school society and Alli's popular, it'll definitely make her nervous. But choose something sexier than a math test! What about a return to the boiler room?

Fiona, where to start? Aside from bringing up memories of the Hannah Montana theme song, you've just spat in Adam's face for all the gender issues he's had to face.

Fiona: "You're boyish and girlish."
Adam: "No, Fiona, I'm not. I'm a guy. Face it, you want a girl." Definitely the shocker of the season.

"Hey, Holly J, what's it like to be in love? ...Oh, that sounds nice. ...I've never had that with a boy. ...Yeah, I guess I'll find out someday."

I will say, the scene after Holly J goes to bed and Fiona lays there crying quietly is actually very powerful.

Good job, Fiona. When Holly asked, "Is there an actual love interest?" in response to Fiona coming out, Fiona said only, "I'm just happy to have my friend." An anticlimactic ending, perhaps, but now we can anticipate that Fiona may try to drive a wedge between Holly J and Sav next season.
