Betty had a great suggestion for Medium fans who are desperate for a chance to see their favorite actors – finding out what else is airing with them in it. One of the movies coming up is The Hi-Lo Country, with Patricia Arquette as Mona, on TCMe. It will air two times on Sunday, December 9th – 8:45 am and 6 pm.

That’s a great idea. I actually do that a lot. TV-now is a cool site (it was even cooler before they hooked up with TVGuide) but you can almost always find something to watch with your favorite actor somewhere. And don’t forget to check Interbridge (at the bottom of the screen) which has all the current schedules for talk shows, both late night and daytime.
The Hi-Lo Country is one of my favorite Patricia Arquette movies. It’s without a doubt one of her best movie performances, right up there with Wildflower, True Romance, Stigmata, and Beyond Rangoon. And this one is almost impossible to find on dvd because they don’t make it anymore. Some places sell it for as much as $75-$85.
I’ve never heard of this movie before! Can you give us a synopsis? Is that channel Turner Classic Movies East? I have TCM, but no East or West.
This Friday, you can catch David Cubitt in an X Files episode on the Sci Fi Channel called “Dod Kalm” at 5 PM EST and 4 PM CST. You MUST get in from the very beginning or you will miss him. You can also catch him this Sunday on the Sleuth channel in “Turks” – usually shown at 8 AM with a repeat at 12 Noon – occasionally they only show it at one time or the other and not both so check you local listings.
Betty, this is an excellent movie. It’s a contemporary western about two best friends who are cowboys and are fighting the disappearance of the old cowboy ways. Patricia plays Mona Birk, a small-town femme fatale who all the men lust after. She is the object of three men’s affections but she only loves one of them. A tawdry affair ensues, friendships are tested, small-town gossips run amok, and tragedy follows. It’s a beautiful story about friendship and romance, but it isn’t all hearts and flowers. Mona Birk is probably one of her least likable characters, yet Patricia somehow makes her endearing even when she’s someone you could easily dislike. That is probably one of Patricia’s greatest skills as an actress, making an otherwise unlovable character seem redeemable, whatever their flaws. And she does it beautifully. if you get a chance, you should really catch this movie.
Oh, speaking of biding our time till Medium comes back, it may not be as long as we think. I heard a rumor today that Medium returns on January 7 in its old time slot, Mondays at 10, following Deal or No Deal. I haven’t read this myself yet, but someone at imdb posted it. I hope it’s true. If it is, then yippee, NBC FINALLY heard us! Let’s just hope that the strike ends soon so we won’t have to worry about the show being put on hiatus just when it’s getting it’s steam back.
Katelyn, I think I’m stuck again. Help!
This if for Betty….only 31 days until Medium premiers. That’s right on Monday Jan 7th according to Chicagotribune.com
Hi all! If you want to see more of David Cubitt this holiday season, look for “Finding John Christmas” on Lifetime. It aired last week and will show again on the Dec 14th 2-4pm in my area. Check your listings. I know how you guys LOOOOOOOVE David Cubitt.
To follow up my earlier ccomment, ( which is lost in limbo), the Hollywood Reporter is also reporting that Medium will return to its original timeslot, Mondays at 10 pm, beginning January 7th. I don’t know about you all, but I think this is great news. It’s what we’ve all been clamoring for for a year now. Let’s just hope that the strike ends soon and that NBC leaves Medium where it is and does a better job of promoting it this year thatn they did last year.
On another note, I heard a podcast interview that David Arquette did a couple of months ago and he mentioned that he was directing an episode of Medium. (We already knew that) He said that it was a very dramatic episode and that Patricia was “amazing” in it. So I guess we can look forward to seeing that episode soon, and it sounds like it’ll be very different from the one that he directed last season.
I’m so excited I can hardly stand it. I can’t wait for Medium to come back. The suspense is killing me.
Donna are you for real? It actually said MONDAY, January 7????? Bless you!
Hi Sheila! You think? Ha! Happy holidays! How are you enjoying your new house?
OMG! Donna, Zap2it had an article on that, too! Yippee! NBC has finally seen the light and is putting Medium back on Monday – we can’t get too excited – the lead ins? American Gladiators and Deal or No Deal. Way to go NBC, move Medium back to Monday and give it crap for lead-ins. Let’s start seeing some commercials to promote Medium, NBC. Stop trying to kill the only decent show left on your schedule!
Betty: The house is a house is a house is a house. So much to do, so little time. It was a nice treat to stumble on that Christmas show with David Cubitt. He is so dreamy.
