The Hills Season 4 Episode 4 – Boys Make Girls Cry

The gang heads out to Vegas in a private jet for Frankie’s birthday.  Everyone is a little leery about possible tension with Audrina and Justin Bobby, who are scheduled to arrive later.  Brody adds to the tension by making a snarky comment about Stephanie being just like her brother.

At the hotel, Lo and Stephanie take bets on which boy Lauren is going to make out with – Doug or Brody.  Lo chooses Brody and Stephanie picks Doug.  Lauren opts to not make out with anyone.

At la casa de douche, Heidi comes home to announce that her sister Holly is moving to LA and will be staying with them until she has her own place.  Spencer, of the flesh colored beard, pulls his usual show of being angry and Heidi pretends to be mad at him as well.  Seriously, MTV, this is beyond tiresome.

Back in Vegas, the girls go up to the boys’ suite to hang out.   Lauren tells everyone that she saw Audrina out at a club the night before and Audrina wouldn’t say hello or even look at her.  When Lauren finally got her attention, she gave a little wave and then explained that she was out “with her friends.”  Brody tells Lauren that she wants to make Audrina move out.  Lauren doesn’t want their friendship to end completely, but everyone tells her she should just do it.

Is it just me or is Audrina suddenly the hero of The Hills?

At Heidi and Spencer’s apartment,  Holly arrives looking absolutely nothing like she just drove like 14 hours in the car.  Heidi tells her that she can stay as long as she needs to.  Heidi and Spencer head out for dinner, with Spencer making it clear that he’s not excited about this new arrangement.

In Vegas, Justin Bobby and Audrina arrive in their room.  Clearly they’re back together?   She tells him her version of what happened at the club.  She talks about how they’re growing apart and how that’s part of becoming an adult.  Wise words from Audrina.  Who knew?

Out at dinner, everyone is drinking champagne.  Someone asks about Audrina and Brody gets visibly irritated with the conversation and Stephanie changes the subject, asking him why he told Lauren not to trust her.  Awkward?  Brody says, point blank, “I’ve known you for a looooong time, and I know how crazy you are.”  Surely that won’t make the rest of the evening any weirder, right?  Doug tries to keep the peace.  Brody tells her “I’m here celebrating a birthday with my best friend and you’re asking questions…”  Stephanie cries.  Doug turns to him, “You’re making girls cry now, dude.”

Stephanie and Lauren are having a pow-wow.  Stephanie is crying (or doing a decent job pretending to).  Lauren tells her never to cry over someone who wouldn’t cry over her.  Ahhh, Lauren.  They talk about Stephanie’s past drug use and how she has overcome it (this would be the After School Special portion of tonight’s show) and is not the same person she used to be.

At the club, Audrina and Justin Bobby (wearing his sunglasses at night AND indoors) join the rest of the crew.  Brody, who clearly is up for drama tonight, tells Justin that everyone has been talking about how Audrina doesn’t want to hang out with them, blah blah blah… Audrina and Frankie talk and he tells her to work it out with Lauren and Lo.  Lauren and Stephanie come back from the bathroom and Frankie tells Lauren that he doesn’t want any drama.  Audrina and Justin hide out and decide to leave.  The tension is too much for Audrina.  They say goodbye to Frankie.  The camera pans to a perfectly snobby expersion on Lo’s face.

Back in LA, at Bolthouse, Spencer shows up and wants to talk to Heidi in person.  She comes down to the parking lot to meet him.  Spencer, now cleanly shaven, complains about Holly staying at their apartment.  Heidi chews him out and goes back to work.

In Vegas, the girls discuss Audrina again.  They decide that they need to put an end to this.  Frankie shows up, hungover and unable to sleep.  He got a text message from Brody that morning saying that he and Doug are in jail.
