See Almost All Of The Hunger Games Tributes Together At Once In This New Photo

Hunger Games Illustrated Companion

This image popped up on Facebook yesterday, and it’s the first time I’ve seen it: Nearly all of the Hunger Games tributes lined up during the training session of the movie. We’ve seen glimpses of this part of the movie in the various trailers, but there’s something really cool about witnessing the differences among the 24 kids from 12 very different districts and their various advantages over one another.

But first, where did this come from? Some new images have been quietly released through magazine spreads, which is what this looks like. After Googling some of the text, I was directed to a Google Books result for The Hunger Games: Official Illustrated Movie Companion. Someone must have gotten his/her hands on an early edition and scanned this photo in. (Note to that person: Share some more pages!)

Let’s look at some of the Hunger Games tributes more closely.

Thresh - He’s fourth from the left, and is currently giving you a really unnerving stare. Dayo Okeniyi seems like the sweetest guy over Twitter, but if this photo is any indication, he’s playing the imposing, incredibly dangerous District 11 tribute to a tee. And this photo really highlights the irony that his fellow district mate is little Rue (Amandla Stenberg), all the way at the front of the line because of how small she is.

Clove - Even though Clove (Isabelle Fuhrman) is downright maniacal, she looks uncomfortable here in the training exercises. Maybe it’s because she’s been separated from her district mate Cato (Alexander Ludwig); really, none of the district tributes stand together here.

Marvel - I didn’t realize how tall Jack Quaid was until I saw him against everyone else. I bet the producers are going to play with the actor’s height to emphasize how confident Marvel, a “Career” tribute is. He and Glimmer have been training their whole lives for this, so he’s going to be cocky. (And, if you go to the fan wiki, you’ll catch a glimpse of his over-the-top interview outfit.)

Glimmer - Leven Rambin was certainly one of the headscratchers when casting was announced, as her previous work had been on All My Children and Grey’s Anatomy. She didn’t seem like the kind of person who’d be interested in a dystopian YA novel. But then again, Glimmer was the best choice for her: The Hunger Games‘ equivalent of the beautiful, popular girl. I love the touch of her wearing sexy pigtails in the training sequence.

I can’t wait until we get closer to the movie’s release (March 23, 2012!) and we get clearer images of each tribute in-costume. Which tribute are you most interested to learn more about?

This photo is awesome…it gives me chills. It’s heartbreaking looking at Rue and the boy behind her (District 9?). Gary Ross, Jennifer Lawrence , et. al, are going to not only thrill us but break our hearts into a million little pieces.
