Oops! It seems that while Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were attending the BAFTA Awards, the four older Jolie-Pitt kids were causing a bit of a ruckus back at the hotel.
According to the UK version of Marie Claire, the story is that Maddox, Pax, Zahara, and Shiloh were playing in the hallway on the third floor, which had been almost completely reserved for the family and the people traveling with them.
I’m not upset at the kids, because seriously, they’re ages two to seven. They’re children and at that age they just don’t really care about whether the noise they make is causing a disruption to other guests. They’re just trying to have fun together and they don’t realize they’re creating a scene.
I’m upset about two things with this story, assuming that it is indeed true. One, I’m annoyed with the nanny. Did she think they were in a park or a private home? She’s the adult and she should have known better than to let them run wild in the hall like that. The article mentioned:
But other guests weren’t amused.
One moaned: ‘They were running up and down the hallway for over an hour.
‘Their nanny tried to quieten them down and move them out the way when people came through.
‘But she had her hands full with the four of them.’
If the nanny realized that she had to get the Jolie-Pitt kids to be quiet and step out of the way for people, she should have realized they were being disruptive and it’s up to her to step up and find something more appropriate for them to do. It’s not very likely that a seven-year-old who is having a great time is going to suddenly stop and say, “hey guys, this isn’t a very good idea, let’s go inside and color instead!”
The other thing that upset me is something that doesn’t surprise me – I’ve seen other articles and blog posts where people are blaming Brad and Angelina for the behavior, and calling the kids wild, out of control, and spoiled.
First of all, how are Brad and Angelina to blame? They weren’t there! It’s not like they were locked inside, sleeping. They had gone out to attend an awards show. They were not responsible for what was going on at the hotel. If non-celebrity kids drew all over their living room walls because their babysitter was too busy watching TV or just didn’t care to stop them, no one would blame the parents who were out. But naturally, because it’s Brad and Angelina, people must blame them for something that happened when they weren’t even present.
Second, kids playing in the hallway and making a lot of nose are not wild, out of control, or spoiled. As I said, that just makes them KIDS. Kids want to run and play and have fun. If anyone has a kid who is two, three, five, or seven years old who would be happier to sit quietly in a chair than play games with their siblings, well lucky them. Most kids are not like that.
Hopefully Brad and Angelina spoke with the nanny after hearing what happened so that things won’t get so loud next time – but on the other hand, I think that’s why they tend to rent houses instead of hotel rooms when they can, because it cuts down on this sort of situation!

About the kids having been up too late and should be in bed: I’m guessing they weren’t actually adjusted to that time zone physically yet and it was probably a logical time for them to be up- and since they were all leaving that night- why try to adjust, as they were probably going back to whatever time zone they were acclimated to. ?? Perhaps?
I say let kids be kids, Brad and Angelina who cares what people say about your kids. If kids are not making messes, then they are not healthy.

UNDER MOD- My “under mod” post!
UNDER MOD- Ligaya, Nadya doesn’t have sextuplets…
Ligaya- Huh? Nayda does NOT have sextuplets! She has the Octuplets, four singletons, and a set of twins.
Sabatical? What is going on….how long? I think I’m starting to have <>
I like that “fire and spice” too, Marry Ann. Sometimes you can say a lot in with two little words….
Thanks, Mary Ann. I really appreciate that. I’m really lousy at multi-tasking and it’s more than enough doing what I can to help publicize and promote Sugar among our extensive network of family, friends, etc. with newsletters, organizing the opening night after-party, keeping on top of the Ryan Fleck archives, etc. ;-)
Maybe by Ryan’s 4th movie, he’ll be well-known enough that he won’t need homegrown promotion. :-)
I like that “fire and spice.”

JoliePittFanatic, by both pregnancies I meant -
JoliePittFanatic, by both pregnancies I meant – if I understand the reports right – the first with sextuplets and the second with octuplets, both achieved by IVF.
Oh, and Brangelina4Ever, very good point about the British being more quiet and proper than us Americans are. I also agree that, if the story HAD been true, I could definently see the kids doing that. I mean, maybe Maddox and Pax are probably old enough to know they shouldn’t be doing that, but Zee Zee is only four and Shi isn’t even three yet. At those ages, kids tend to act out a lot.
Ligaya- Actually ALL of Nayda’s children were concieved via IVF. She has 14 all together, including the octuplets and a set of twins. Therefore, that means that she’s had IVF at least 6 times (I say at least because, for all we know, some of the first attempts weren’t succesful). I don’t know what you meant by “both pregnancies”.
Oh, and thanks for posting the entire article. After reading it, I’ve changed my stance on being mad at the author for taking some jabs at Angie (Ligaya, if you’re confused, read my post over on the “Brad Cruises LA on his Motorcyle, thread).
I now believe that the author the author was actually trying to be very supportive of Angie, and I don’t think she made any intentional jabs at her.
In response to Brangelina forever. My hubby is british and I lived in London for 4 years…. the whole british people are reserved/stiff upper lip/children minding their manners is a MYTH. Like everywhere you have the good, the bad and the ugly. I certainly don’t think kids misbehaving is anything new and is something for their parents, or whomever was in charge to deal with. I totally doubt this story.

I think this says it all about Nadya/Angelina. What I don’t understand is IVF and plastic surgery are supposed to be very expensive – how was Nadya able to get both procedures – or 3, since both pregnancies were IVF – since she didn’t have money? The medical providers made highly questionable decisions. IMO, they should be held accountable.

So for all the parents of little girls who are afraid their impressionable daughters might say, “It’s okay for me to have lots of kids out of wedlock since Angelina Jolie does, right?” You can reply, “Absolutely, right after you’ve earned and donated millions of dollars, won an Academy Award and become a U.N. Ambassador before the age of 30.”
Don’t Blame Angelina for Nadya Suleman Fiasco

Don’t Blame Angelina for Nadya Suleman Fiasco
By Samantha Chang
Nadya Suleman, the California woman who gave birth to octuplets Jan. 26, bears an uncanny resemblance to actress Angelina Jolie, thanks to all the plastic surgery she reportedly underwent (see a before-and-after photo below).
Like Jolie, Suleman, 33, has the same tapered button nose, pouty lips and a truckload of young children under the age of 8. But that’s really where the similarities end.
Not surprisingly, Nadya is said to be obsessed with Angelina and has repeatedly tried to contact the actress. For her part, Jolie is “totally creeped out” by Suleman, a source close to the actress told the Chicago Sun Times. “It is clear this woman needs psychological help,” says the insider. “It’s one thing to clip out a celebrity’s photo from a magazine and ask your stylist to copy that cut. But to have a nose job and collagen injections in your lips—that’s over the top.”
Since Suleman has obviously fashioned herself to resemble Jolie, some may wonder if celebs like Angelina—who make motherhood look glamorous—might be influencing impressionable women seeking attention and a sense of purpose in life to have kids—and lots of them. But is Angelina really to blame for the sorry state of Nadya’s life? Gimme a break!
Jolie, who has been a working actress since her teens, has made—and donated—millions of dollars over the years to charitable causes. Indeed, it is widely known that Angie, 33, donates one-third of her income to charity every year.
In addition, Jolie is a respected actress who was established in her career and won numerous awards before she first became a mom in 2002 (when she adopted son Maddox from a Cambodian orphanage).
In stark contrast, Nadya ignited a media firestorm for having having 14 children out of wedlock while unemployed and on food stamps. She made international headlines when it was revealed that she was already the mother of six young children when she was implanted with six embryos through in-vitro fertilization. Two of the embryos split, which resulted in 8 babies.
Until recently, Nadya lived with her 69-year-old mom Angela Suleman, who was the primary caregiver for all six of her grandchildren. Nadya’s mom has said she has been financially supporting Nadya and all the kids without any help from her self-absorbed, irresponsible daughter.
“I’m really tired of taking care of the six children and need her to think about how she’ll provide for all these children,” Angela said recently. “Nadya promised to help me with the bills, but she never has. I lost a house because of it, and now I’m struggling to look after her six.”
While Angelina can support her own children, doesn’t burden her family and even contributes to others in need, Nadya is a financial and emotional drain on her senior-citizen mom and really, to her community at large.
It takes more than a nose job and lip injections for someone like Suleman to be like Angelina. She’d first have to have a career, earn her own money and have her own identity before birthing a litter of innocent kids, who unfortunately, will suffer for having a psychotic mom.
(While I don’t think Nadya is necessarily psychotic in the clinical sense, IMO, she definitely has mental health issues and – based on her statements – has a weak grasp of reality.)
Ligaya, I am sure I am not alone when I say, we wish you would not take a sabbatical. You add spice and fire to Pittwatch.
amen Ligaya. hehe … and hey, congratulations for the scarf and also Sugar. I like the trailer ;)
Ligaya – I’m so glad that you were finally able to receive it! I hadn’t heard back from my contact so I didn’t know what was going on yet. Yay!
The hotel debunked this fictional story – why are we talking about it as if it was fact? We’re just perpetuating the rumor. LOL, don’t make me come out of my sabbatical again.
BTW, thanks, Sherry. Got the wonderul organic silk blend knit scarf I won here. So light, warm in cold, rainy, windy weather, and yet cool in hot weather. Amazing. I’m going to order another one since they gave me a 10% off coupon.
Ok, I agree with you guys about kids being kids and I can see them being rowdy in a sense I mean screaming and laughing the little girls while being chased by their older brothers playing tag…possible…But I also think that one have to factor in that they are in London. Children are very very very well behaved in London in public places. The English, from what I’ve seen are very quiet, serene and poised people. They are proud of that. Si I can see screaming kids can appear very unlruly to them Now I could be wrong, any English or British people to share their two cents?
Oh, and one thing I forgot to mention about Nadya is that I think saying she’s trying to be like Angie is actually a little odd.
I mean, Nayda’s oldest kid is what: 6 or 7? And her youngest before the Octuplets is, I believe, 2. Therefore, of Nayda’s first six kids, most were born when Angie still had only one child-Maddox. Depending on when the two-year-old’s birthday is, Angie and Brad had either only Maddox and Zahara, or Maddox, Zahara, and Shi when s/he was born.
Even if it was the latter, three kids is still hardly a lot of kids. Therefore, when she had her first six kids, I really don’t see how Nayda could have been trying to be like Angie.
Now, was she trying to be like Angie when she had the Octuplets? Who knows (although, from watching her interview with Ann Curry, I get the impression that she simply wanted a lot of kids. I also get the impression that she never expected to end up with Octuplets, because she thought that the IVF procedure either wouldn’t work at all, or only a few embryos would implant)?
My point is that I don’t think she started out trying to be like Angie. That said, this is the last I’ll say on that topic.
