After going into a profanity-laced tirade against minorities and women following a DUI arrest, Mel Gibson went on the offensive and many of his Hollywood friends came to his defense. Among them was Whoopi Goldberg, who said on The View that she considered Mel a friend and knew he wasn't a racist.
After asking lots of questions about President Obama's birth certificate, many pundits (including David Letterman) accused Trump of racism. His response? "There is nobody who is less of a racist than Donald Trump."
After Amy allegedly sang a version of the kids' song "Head and Shoulders, Knees and Toes" with racial slurs sprinkled throughout, she responded "I don't want to play anything down, but I'm the least racist person going."
Though the Detroit chapter of the NAACP wanted to honor Kid Rock, they faced criticism from many members because Kid has used Confederate flags in his performances. Kid accepted the award, saying, "I love America. I love Detroit, and I love black people."
After he used the N-word in a voicemail to his son (who was dating a black woman), Dog did major damage control. "I have the utmost respect and aloha for black people – who have already suffered so much due to racial discrimination and acts of hatred," said Dog. I did not mean to add yet another slap in the face to an entire race of people who have brought so many gifts to this world.
After Miley was photographed making what appeared to be slanted eyes in a picture, she was accused of racism against Asians. Her response? "I’ve also been told there are some people upset about some pictures taken of me with friends making goofy faces! Well, Im sorry if those people looked at those pics and took them wrong and out of context."
